Navek
Navek is an independent goliath hunter who specializes in tracking manticores. He becomes Eryk’s guide on the island hunt and later joins the party’s investigation of a dungeon, contributing field knowledge and forming a close working partnership with Konstantin. (Chapters 325–341)
Biography
A hunter with a personal reason
Konstantin introduces Eryk to Navek in Eternis, where the goliath hunter is visiting the city. Unlike the two clans that specialize in manticore hunting, Navek works alone. He has prominent scars and is missing his right arm below the elbow. His interest in manticores is personal: he hunts for the one that killed his family. (Chapters 325, 328)
Navek accompanies the group on an extended hunt along the island’s north slope. He explains that manticores are attracted to metal, helping Eryk’s party use a sword as bait. Over the course of the hunt, the group kills eleven manticores, and Navek’s knowledge helps them choose where to search next. (Chapters 326–327)
From hunting to dungeon exploration
Navek later travels with Konstantin and Eryk through the jungle and toward a chasm that may conceal a dungeon entrance. He is eager to explore, recognizes signs left by manticores, and explains details of the local ecology, including the blood moth nest. His expertise makes him valuable even when his enthusiasm pushes the group toward risk. (Chapters 331–338)
Navek is eventually caught in the dungeon’s magic and held while the others investigate. Maveith persuades him to help, and the group continues to include him in its exploration. By the end of the available narrative, Konstantin is considering when to release him, reflecting a friendship that has formed through the hunt and dungeon expedition. (Chapters 339–341)
