Lirkin
Lirkin is the cook who keeps Eryk’s company fed through its campaigns. He is a resourceful member of the unit whose work supports the soldiers in the field, and he later considers building a civilian life by opening an inn. (Chapters 20, 38, 43, 55–57, 73–77, 128, 134, 268–269)
Biography
Feeding the company
Lirkin first meets Eryk in the company villa’s kitchen, where he complains that Eryk’s dimensional storage could be used to carry ingredients and spices instead of only life-saving supplies. His teasing establishes his priorities: food is part of keeping the soldiers healthy and morale intact. He later asks Eryk to help clear rats from the cellar when the villa’s wards fail. (Chapters 20, 38)
Lirkin is not only a cook behind the lines. During an attack on the villa, Eryk identifies him among the people the company must rescue. Lirkin is wounded badly enough that the soldiers carry him on a stretcher, but after he recovers he returns to his work and helps the company through its movement and siege duties. (Chapters 43, 55–57)
As the company travels, Lirkin continues preparing meals from limited supplies. His improvisation with stale bread and jerky earns him a quiet exchange with Eryk, and his cooking remains a source of comfort during the hard journey toward Caelora. After the company’s return, he considers buying a small tavern or inn, a chance to turn his practical skill into a life beyond military service. (Chapters 73–77, 128, 134, 268–269)
Appearance and personality
Lirkin is shown as a practical cook with a teasing manner and a strong interest in making the most of available food. He keeps working even when circumstances are rough and is willing to ask others for help when the company’s supplies or safety are at stake. (Chapters 20, 38, 134)
Magic and abilities
Lirkin’s established skill is cooking for a military company and improvising meals from field rations. The text does not establish a personal magical ability. (Chapters 20, 57, 76–77, 134)
