Jhuarkasha

Jhuarkasha is a Boutan cleric and rival candidate to Mynasha in the Choosing. His strongest affinity is protection, and he relies on Warlord Rhuuk as his First; after Rhuuk dies in the demon dungeon, Jhuarkasha flees rather than continuing the confrontation. (Chapters 303–317)

Biography

A rival candidate

Eryk first sees Jhuarkasha riding with Rhuuk as they pass the road during the first trial. By the time Mynasha’s party reaches the competition, the two are established candidates who have advanced through the early tests. Jhuarkasha’s First is the powerful Rhuuk, and Eryk understands that the cleric’s alliance with the warlord makes them a serious political and physical challenge. (Chapters 307–310)

Jhuarkasha and Rhuuk are present when the candidates face the Titans and receive artifacts. After the encounter, Jhuarkasha’s pair leave Rosenrock and return with an artifact, placing him in direct competition with Mynasha for the Supreme position. The Elders choose Jhuarkasha as the next Supreme before the final trial, which requires the rivals to enter the demon dungeon. (Chapters 311–314)

The final trial

Jhuarkasha enters the dungeon with Rhuuk and reaches the corridor before the ice demon. He taunts Eryk and Mynasha, apparently hoping to make them take on the demon while exhausted. His confidence rests partly on Rhuuk’s combat strength, which has carried them through earlier trials and the first dungeon chambers. The confrontation turns when that ally falls. (Chapter 316)

Rhuuk’s death shocks Jhuarkasha. He runs toward the chamber exit rather than continuing to fight Eryk and Mynasha, so the story does not show him securing the Supreme seat or resolving the Choosing. His flight preserves his life in the scene, but leaves his political standing and later role unconfirmed. (Chapters 316–317)

Appearance and personality

Jhuarkasha is a male cleric whose strongest affinity is protection. He presents a confident, mocking face to his rivals, but his reaction to Rhuuk’s death is shock followed by flight. (Chapters 304, 316–317)

Magic and abilities

Jhuarkasha’s strongest stated affinity is protection. The narrative does not describe a specific protection spell or a numeric score for him. His progression in the Choosing is demonstrated by advancing with Rhuuk through the trials and receiving a Titan artifact. (Chapters 304, 311–314)
