Icarus
Icarus runs the Adventurers’ Guild Hall in Telha. He helps Castile’s company process its dungeon reward, later advises Eryk as he plans his escape from the Empire, and serves as a careful gatekeeper when Guild business intersects with imperial politics. (Chapters 69–73, 250–252)
Biography
Managing the Guild Hall
Icarus first meets Castile’s company when it comes to collect its reward for discovering a dungeon. He uses a truth spell to confirm Castile’s identity before approving the transaction. The next day, he helps Eryk access the Hall’s tablet reader, explaining the membership and rental requirements. His manner is cautious, but he makes the Guild’s services available to people who follow its rules. (Chapters 69–70)
Helping Eryk leave the Empire
When Eryk returns to the Guild Hall, Icarus discusses a possible route out of the Empire and gives advice about travel through Esenhem and the Boutan Caliphate. He is wary of Eryk’s plan to transport companions and a horse, but considers ways to make it work. He also offers a room at the Hall and helps Eryk prepare for the journey. (Chapters 250–251)
The city’s political crisis interrupts their arrangements. When news spreads that the Emperor may be dead and the palace is burning, Icarus listens closely to Eryk’s explanations and evaluates whether a writ will allow the ship to sail. His priority is to protect the Guild Hall and its operation while responding to events that could close the city. (Chapter 252)
Appearance and personality
Icarus is a clean-shaven, observant Guildmaster who reads people carefully. He questions Eryk’s motives but remains willing to help when Eryk offers a fair arrangement and follows Guild procedures. (Chapters 69–70, 250–252)
Magic and abilities
Icarus can use a truth spell to verify a person’s identity. His role also requires knowledge of Guild procedures, travel routes, and the regulations governing passage and dungeon exploration. No further magical discipline is shown. (Chapters 69, 250–252)
