Biography

A veteran in Castile’s company

Flavius appears as an experienced soldier who understands the political risks facing Castile’s company. When he and other legionnaires recover a wounded mage, he argues against taking the man’s possessions because Truthseekers might interpret the act as theft. The decision reflects his caution and awareness that military conduct can have consequences beyond the immediate mission. (Chapters 33–35)

Flavius continues to serve through the company’s campaigns and the dangerous journey into the Elven ruins. He scouts, fights specters, and helps lead the company through Caelora. When separated, the legionnaires rely on his experience, and he remains focused on getting the surviving soldiers back together. (Chapters 50–61, 140–175)

Death in Caelora

Inside the undercity, Flavius plans to report directly to the Legatus Legionis when the company reaches a city. Konstantin recognizes that the report could expose Castile and the Hounds’ hidden arrangements. He agrees to act, and later tells Eryk that he killed Flavius to protect the secret. The choice leaves the company one experienced soldier short and reveals the severity of Konstantin’s divided loyalties. (Chapters 180, 209–210, 259)
