Swaying Moonfall Legacy Page

The Swaying Moonfall Legacy Page is a torn black page holding the intent and instructions for the saber move Swaying Moonfall. The Meng family's Third Elder gives it to Meng Chuan, who uses the limited transmissions to learn a gentle-looking but ruthless Yin-oriented technique and incorporate it into his early killing repertoire.

History

A family elder passes on his most valuable legacy

The Third Elder acquired the remnant page in his youth and gives it away once Meng Chuan becomes the Meng family's central cultivation hope. Unwrapping it releases a Godfiend aura; written instructions state the move's key points, while focused reading draws Meng Chuan into a conceptual demonstration. He recognizes that its descending, moonlike beauty conceals a vicious attack and resolves to conserve the page's limited transmissions while turning the move into one of his principal techniques. (Chapter 23)

Meng Chuan adds daily Swaying Moonfall practice to his regimen and later combines its soft, elusive trajectory with the accumulated force of the first two Five Lightning Descent strikes. That three-part sequence defeats Murong You's defense when repeated hard attacks would have remained predictable. The page itself is stored with the Lightning Devastator fragment in Meng Dajiang's trapped underground chamber; later uses demonstrate Meng Chuan's learned technique, not continuing physical activation of the page. (Chapters 23, 43, and 46)

Abilities and properties

Conceptual transmission

The page combines written guidance with an intent legacy. During transmission, a tall, thin figure demonstrates a beautiful descending saber arc, allowing the viewer to experience the move's concept more directly than ordinary diagrams permit. Meng Chuan classifies it as extreme Yin softness: the path appears gentle and detectable yet is difficult to intercept, with revolving force capable of slipping through a hurried defense. (Chapters 23 and 46)

The page has a finite transmission capacity. Meng Chuan estimates that it can present the conceptual legacy only a little more than ten times before tearing apart, so he limits his planned use rather than repeatedly entering it. It teaches one move rather than a complete saber system, and it does not automatically grant mastery; repeated physical practice and Meng Chuan's own adaptations are required to turn the concept into effective combat. (Chapter 23)

Interaction with other saber arts

Swaying Moonfall supplies a soft finishing line that contrasts with the first two domineering Five Lightning Descent attacks. Meng Chuan's third strike releases their accumulated lightning and Quintessential Energy through Swaying Moonfall, changing rhythm and trajectory just as Murong You prepares for another frontal blow. This combination is a new construction by Meng Chuan, not an extra sequence encoded in the page, and it still depends on Power of the Soul to meet the earlier attacks' control requirements. (Chapters 42 and 46)

  • Meng Chuan: The page broadens his early saber path beyond the Saber Drawing Stance and gives him the soft component he later joins to Lightning Devastator principles.
