Selfless Formless Sword

The Selfless Formless Sword is a painting-catalogue legacy created by the artist-cultivator Huang Yong. Although framed as a sword art, it uses brushwork to express pure void laws, making its original manual exceptionally compatible with Meng Chuan's painting-based approach to movement.

History

An overlooked catalogue opens a Heaven Earth path

Meng Chuan notices the manual among a group of Imperial Lord-level legacies sold from a small Black Dragon City shop. Its first visible image immediately catches his painter's eye, and he recognizes that the apparent sword technique is fundamentally a void-lineage brush method. Rather than pay only to receive the legacy once, he buys the sole original copy so he can repeatedly study its brushstrokes. (Chapters 508–509)

Back at his residence, Meng Chuan rapidly understands the first three paintings and applies his accumulated void insights to the technique. The fourth painting stands at the Heaven Earth realm and gives him a clear route beyond the perfected Grotto-Heaven bottleneck that had halted his Cloud Dragon Snake Movement Technique. (Chapter 509)

Abilities and properties

Huang Yong built the perfected Imperial Lord-level art from thirty-three thousand sword moves. At full expression, the practitioner appears throughout a region fifteen thousand kilometers across and combines the moves into a painting. The technique belongs purely to the void lineage rather than to an elemental path. (Chapter 509)

The manual also contains a condensed route through five paintings. A cultivator who truly comprehends them can master the sword art and reach the perfected Heaven Earth realm without individually following every listed move. The paintings preserve pacing, weight, fluidity, realism, and domain in their brushwork, so continued visual study of the original provides more value than a one-time transmission. (Chapter 509)

Compatibility is the central limit. The seller's homeworld retained the manual for an immense period without producing anyone who mastered it, whereas Meng Chuan's painting attainments let him dissect its brushwork immediately. At its latest appearance he has not perfected the legacy; he has understood the lower paintings and is using the Heaven Earth-level fourth painting as his next cultivation route. (Chapter 509)
