Mask of Illusion
The Mask of Illusion is an Archean Mountain concealment treasure entrusted to Meng Chuan. It hides the appearance and aura behind the “mysterious Godfiend” identity that lets him conduct large-scale demon hunts without exposing his family or true cultivation.
History
Concealment turns a known prodigy into an unknown veteran
Archean Mountain gives Meng Chuan the gray mask when his improved reconnaissance speed makes him a strategic target. After he controls it with Quintessential Essence and puts it on, his aura changes, his expression appears colder, and his hair turns white. The disguise suggests an elderly Regis Godfiend rather than the sect's young prodigy, allowing him to reinforce cities and hunt underground demons without immediately revealing who is responsible. (Chapter 351)
Meng Chuan maintains the false identity even inside the Eon Sea Sect inheritance grounds, calling himself Humanity's Demon Slayer. The Heart Sea Palace still determines his true age from his life experiences, showing that the mask defeats ordinary observation rather than every specialized trial. He later brings it into the outer realm and uses it to present the aura of an ordinary Supremacy. (Chapters 365–379 and 492)
By the time he shops in Black Dragon City, Meng Chuan uses the stronger Sea Serpent Token instead. The narration explicitly contrasts this with the Mask of Illusion; it does not describe the earlier mask being destroyed, discarded, or transferred. (Chapters 505 and 508)
Abilities and properties
The mask alters visible appearance and disguises the wearer's aura. It also obstructs probing intended to reveal identity, appearance, or strength; even an Imperial Lord would find it difficult to see through in the human world, while a Tribulation Eminence would need to be very close to discern Meng Chuan's true strength in the outer realm. (Chapters 351 and 492)
Control requires only an infusion of Quintessential Essence, and the transformation takes effect as soon as the mask is worn. It is especially useful when behavior and fighting style cannot be hidden completely: the false age and aura give observers a plausible but incorrect explanation for the masked Godfiend's strength. (Chapters 351, 360, and 365)
Its protection is not absolute. The Heart Sea Palace reads age through lived experience, and the mask is later less capable than a Sea Serpent Token against high-level outer-realm scrutiny. Its latest confirmed custody is among the treasures Meng Chuan carries into the outer realm; afterward he uses the superior token, and the mask's precise location is not restated. (Chapters 379, 492, and 505)
