Lightning Devastator Saber Fragment

The Lightning Devastator Saber Fragment is a palm-sized piece of Meteorite Metal containing part of the Lightning Devastator Saber's seventeenth stance, Five Lightning Descent. Meng Chuan takes it from Blood Hand Zhao Can without knowing its identity; receiving even a partial transmission injures his consciousness, but the surviving insight becomes one of his strongest mortal-era combat methods.

History

From bandit loot to a contested legacy

Blood Hand Zhao Can carries the damaged piece while attempting to sell it as an unidentified Godfiend treasure. After Meng Chuan kills him, he takes the fragment with the other effects and examines it at home. His consciousness is pulled into an intent transmission showing an overwhelming saber strike; he cannot endure the full legacy, collapses with a damaged soul, and needs two months before his Power of the Soul completely recovers. What he retains is only the first two attacks of Five Lightning Descent, not the complete five-strike stance preserved across all fragments. (Chapters 40–42)

The Skydemon Sect identifies the piece as one of the scattered fragments of the Lightning Devastator Saber Black Metal Sutra and attacks Meng Chuan in hopes of trading it to the demons. Meng Chuan and Meng Dajiang have already hidden it with another legacy in a trapped underground chamber, so covert searches fail. The ensuing attempt to capture Meng Chuan instead destroys the local Skydemon branch, leaving the fragment in secured Meng-family custody. Its later physical fate is not explicitly revisited, even though the transmitted principles continue to influence Meng Chuan's saber arts. (Chapters 43–48)

Abilities and properties

Intent transmission

The fragment has no written text or diagrams on its surface. A compatible consciousness can be drawn into the remnant intent, where a saber strike transmits information directly rather than through ordinary reading. Meng Chuan receives only part of the seventeenth stance before instinctive self-protection breaks the connection. The process demonstrates that the fragment contains genuine Black Metal Sutra insight, but it is dangerous to a soul too weak to withstand the creator's intent. (Chapters 40–43)

Five Lightning Descent is structured as five consecutive strikes whose accumulated power undergoes a qualitative change. Meng Chuan learns only the first two; their physical and Quintessential Energy demands exceed what he can normally execute as a mortal, so he needs Power of the Soul to control them. He creates a third follow-up by releasing the accumulated energy through Swaying Moonfall, but that synthesis is Meng Chuan's own adaptation, not a missing technique stored in this fragment. Fragmentary and nonrenewable limits

The complete Lightning Devastator Saber inheritance was shattered into many distinct pieces, some already held by human sects or demons. This piece cannot provide the missing third through fifth attacks, and a single failed viewing causes severe pain, confusion, loss of balance, and a long recovery. Meng Chuan therefore refuses to inspect it again until his soul undergoes a qualitative improvement. The corpus does not show a later transmission or establish that the fragment repairs itself.
