Eternal Token

The Eternal Token is a palm-sized gray sword carved from a Primordial Stone and recognized by Eternal Tower as a high-value exchange credential. Senior Cang Xing's guardian gives one to Meng Chuan, who spends it on the third volume of the Void Catalog.

History

A karmic bargain purchases spatial guidance

Inside Senior Cang Xing's cave abode, the guardian offers Meng Chuan a basic-level Eternal Token in exchange for accepting a future obligation connected to killing forbidden creatures. The offer matters because a token can buy one of the otherwise restricted Void Catalog volumes. Meng accepts, receives the gray sword, and becomes bound by the promised karma. (Chapters 567–568)

After joining Eternal Tower, Meng presents the token to the river-zone headquarters artifact spirit and requests the Void Catalog's third volume. The headquarters validates the credential and transmits the book. Meng's later references identify the token as the payment that made that volume possible; the token itself is no longer part of his equipment. (Chapters 571–572, 587, and 641)

Unforgeable exchange authority

The token resembles a small sword naturally carved from Primordial Stone and carries a vast aura associated with an immensely powerful existence. The guardian states that nobody in the River of Spacetime can forge it. Eternal Tower values a basic-level token at 300,000 contribution points, though its practical value exceeds 300,000 cubes because outsiders can use it to access otherwise restricted transactions. Uses, limits, and identity

It can be exchanged for many high-level Eternal Tower treasures rather than only the Void Catalog, but it is a finite payment credential, not a reusable combat artifact. Meng spends his example on one catalog volume, fulfilling its narrative function. It is distinct from the golden Eternal Tower identity token issued when he joins the organization and from the unrelated golden Cang Alliance token refined in Cang Alliance Space.
