Meng Chuan first knows Patriarch Black Dragon by reputation: fighting is forbidden on his planet, and cultivators who obey its rules are guaranteed safety. The Patriarch's Eternal Tower affiliation and preference for fair transactions shape the entire river system's commercial culture. When hostile forces gather beyond his great stellar array, he returns rental fees and orders all visitors to leave rather than trap them inside a coming conflict. He then uses the broad defenses to let the evacuating cultivators reach the perimeter despite the attempted blockade.
