Beastbirth Seed

The Beastbirth Seed is a supposedly extinct spirit seed that grows into a Beastbirth Flower, draws life force from spirit beasts, and uses their contributions to produce a new battle beast. Bai Xiaochun recovers a neglected seed from a fallen Luochen Clan cultivator, preserves it, and later cultivates it in the Spirit Stream Sect's Beast Conservatory. Its single documented growth cycle ends when the flower withers and Bruiser tears his way out; later “beastbirth blood” comes from Bruiser, not from a surviving seed. Recovery and preservation

While examining the bag of holding of a slain Luochen Clan cultivator, Bai recognizes a seed whose life-force fluctuations are unstable because it has been stored poorly. He identifies it as a legendary Beastbirth Seed, a type believed extinct, and immediately carves a box from spirit wood to stabilize it. The seed's maker, original source, and path into the Luochen cultivator's possession are never disclosed. (Chapter 66)

Bai keeps the boxed seed in his bag of holding through his return to the Spirit Stream Sect. He hopes to use it to obtain a battle beast of his own, but does not plant it until he has moved to the north bank and gained access to a suitable garden in the Beast Conservatory. Once planted, it sprouts rapidly and eventually becomes a flower several meters tall, with its unopened bud continuing to expand as it matures. (Chapters 99, 117, 119–120, 125, and 130)

The Beastbirth Flower's contributions

The flower's fragrance attracts spirit beasts. Those that enter it experience a hallucination and emerge dazed, while the flower extracts part of their life force. The Heavenhorn ink dragon explains that these contributions are condensed into ancestral-awakening blood and can allow a bloodline to be passed on. Bai's own experiments and the ink dragon's intervention bring contributions from numerous north-bank battle beasts and guardian beasts before the flower closes around the developing life inside. (Chapters 130–135)

The resulting bloodline is not fixed by the seed alone. One peak lord laments that combining the seed with a jasper seamonster might instead have produced a third-order bloodline, while the mixed contributions Bai actually gathers create a heterogeneous offspring. That comparison is an unrealized possibility, not proof that every Beastbirth Seed reliably produces a particular bloodline order. (Chapters 134–136)

Bruiser's birth and the seed's consumption

As the flower withers, the unborn beast's heterogeneous bloodline nearly causes it to die. A Spirit Stream Sect patriarch and the Heavenhorn ink dragon provide limited aid, but they cannot guarantee survival. Bai remains beside the flower, supplying spiritual power and encouragement until the creature finds the will to break out. Bruiser finally tears through the withered flower alive, ending the seed's transformation and leaving no separate seed or reusable flower. (Chapters 136–137)

Much later, Bai needs beastbirth blood for a medicinal pill. The text defines this ingredient as blood from a creature born from a Beastbirth Flower, and Bai obtains a drop from Bruiser. This is a biological legacy of the seed's completed growth cycle; it does not indicate that the original seed, flower, or their life-force extraction function survived Bruiser's birth. (Chapter 180)

Abilities and properties

• Preservable dormancy: An unplanted seed can remain viable in storage, but poor maintenance makes its life-force fluctuations unstable. Bai's spirit-wood box stabilizes the specimen; the corpus does not give a universal storage lifespan. (Chapter 66)

• Transformation into a Beastbirth Flower: Once planted in a suitable garden, the seed sprouts and grows into a very large flower. The documented specimen is consumed by this one-way transformation and birth process. (Chapters 119–120, 125, 130, and 136–137)

• Hallucination and life-force collection: The mature flower draws beasts inside, places them in a pleasurable or dazed hallucinatory state, and extracts life force without killing the documented contributors. The Heavenhorn ink dragon identifies the condensed result as ancestral-awakening blood. (Chapters 130–135)

• Battle-beast gestation: Contributions from participating beasts can be combined into a new creature whose traits and bloodline reflect the inputs. Bruiser's heterogeneous inheritance is unusually difficult to stabilize, and the source does not establish a predictable recipe or success rate for other seeds. (Chapters 134–137)

• Beastbirth blood: A creature successfully born from the flower can later provide beastbirth blood. This property belongs to the offspring's blood and should not be confused with a reusable product stored in the original seed. (Chapter 180)
