Feng Yan is a Green Crest Peak disciple who accepts Qian Dajin's payment to murder Bai Xiaochun while leading a rescue mission, only to die in the Luochen Clan's trap. (Chapters 47–52)

Biography

The Luochen Clan Mission

Feng Yan joins Bai Xiaochun and Du Lingfei on a mission to find Hou Yunfei, concealing that Qian Dajin has promised him a lucrative reward for killing Bai. He first burns incense to draw two-headed bats and separates the group, then performs concern when Bai survives. The dangers beyond the sect unsettle him enough to delay a direct attack, but he uses his authority over the mission to pressure the others into entering the suspicious Luochen Clan compound despite Bai's objections. Once the clan's Shadowhell Formation traps them, Feng fights for escape with pills, a flying sword, and fire. At the breach he again leaves Bai exposed to enemies, expecting him to die. Bai catches Feng while he is halfway out and pulls him back; the clan's flesh fragments drag him inside as the opening closes, killing him. Du Lingfei never learns of his contract and reports him as having fallen protecting fellow disciples, so his public funeral honors a sacrifice that the private narrative contradicts. Appearance and personality

The corpus identifies Feng Yan as a young man but gives no distinctive face, build, or clothing. He presents a cool, courteous exterior while repeatedly hiding scorn, calculation, and murderous intent. Although deceptive, he is not fearless: unfamiliar danger unnerves him, and he hesitates when circumstances make a secret killing difficult. His sect's later heroic account reflects incomplete information, not a change in his motives. (Chapters 47–52)

Abilities and cultivation

Feng Yan is at the seventh level of Qi Condensation. He pilots a windskiff, uses a Feng Shui compass, controls a flying sword, recognizes the Shadowhell Formation, and summons a large fireball through an incantation gesture. Explosive black medicinal pills can blast enemies away and propel his escape, although the fireball exacts a visible toll. None of these objects is registered as a notable item, and the source gives no formal names or training history for his arts. (Chapters 47–51)

Relationships

• Bai Xiaochun: Feng pretends to mentor Bai while covertly engineering his death. Their struggle culminates when Bai prevents Feng's escape from the Luochen compound.
• Du Lingfei: Feng leads her on the mission and maintains his facade in her presence. She believes that he died because the group ignored Bai's caution and later helps preserve his heroic public reputation.
• Qian Dajin: The Inner Sect disciple who offers Feng payment to kill Bai; the corpus does not show Feng collecting it.
