Elder Zhou

Elder Zhou is a Foundation Establishment elder of Fragrant Cloud Peak who later serves as acting peak lord during Li Qinghou's seclusion. His death in the River-Defying Sect war becomes one of the losses that hardens Bai Xiaochun's resolve. (Chapters 6–175 and 267–335)

Biography

Fragrant Cloud elder and wartime casualty

Early references connect Elder Zhou to Fragrant Cloud Peak's ordinary institutional life, including a decade-birthday feast targeted by the Ovens and a phoenix whose confrontations with Bai create lasting comic resentment. The elder later watches the Chosen battles and is identified as one of the sect's Foundation Establishment elders assigned important duties. When Li Qinghou enters prolonged seclusion, Elder Zhou takes over leadership of Fragrant Cloud Peak. (Chapters 6, 89–175, and 267)

During the River-Defying Sect's war, Elder Zhou is killed and beheaded. Bai recognizes the head and remembers the phoenix that once brought Elder Zhou to accuse him. Grief and anger lead Bai to draw the elder's spilled blood into a sword and use it to execute the enemy responsible.
