Baek Woon

Baek Woon is the Sacred Master of the Bright Cold Realm and a devoted servant of Radiance Hall in A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation. She protects a Middle Realm by drawing on its attraction force, but the same office lets her rename, bind, and suppress people for the order she considers necessary. Her relationship with Seo Eun-hyun moves from attempted subordination to wary coalition, showing a ruler capable of honoring service without surrendering hierarchy or faith.

Biography

Guardian and attempted namer

Baek Woon first appears beyond a dimensional boundary as a being of white light resisting an intruding higher authority. Her office links personal survival to Bright Cold’s stability: she monitors disruptions, adjusts realm attraction, and opposes Vestiges or divine powers that threaten uncontrolled entry. Protection is sincere, but it also makes suppression part of administration, especially when older wills and the Tall Tree Race challenge the names and order she imposes. (Chapters 322, 330, 339, 443–457)

Seo’s rise as a Heart Tribe Esteemed One forces Baek Woon to classify a power that may not obey cultivation hierarchy. She summons his consciousness, explains the Heavenly Domain, divines a title, and offers the Within Heavens Star as both recognition and binding. Her goal is a controllable successor who cannot become another Yang Su-jin-scale calamity. Seo rejects the imposed name because accepting protection would also accept ownership of his identity. When Baek Woon presses her will and attacks, Seo answers with curse banners and Jeon Myeong-hoon’s lightning. Her shell is destroyed and her soul injured, proving that realm office does not make the administrator invulnerable to asymmetric methods. She survives, but their relationship changes: future negotiation remains backed by immense force, while neither side can pretend that ceremonial recognition erased the coercion beneath it. Coalition, accommodation, and continuing service

The Lightning Sacred Sea crisis and approaching End require cooperation among the Sacred Masters. Baek Woon leads meetings, receives revelation, projects across realms, and shields Seo from Entering Nirvana enemies even while their earlier dispute remains unresolved. Preserving Middle Realm symbols becomes more important than personal victory. Her support recognizes Seo’s service as a great hero without making him the obedient subordinate she originally intended to create. (Chapters 478–521)

Baek Woon joins the Cedarwood Painting campaign and repeatedly channels Bright Cold’s authority into the coalition. She coordinates with other Sacred Masters, protects boundaries, and remains loyal to Radiance Hall as the institution she believes can sustain a greater order. That devotion distinguishes her from temporary allies: cooperation changes policy and tone, but it does not become repentance or abandonment of the hierarchy that justified her naming attempt. When Seo returns as a True Immortal, Baek Woon can no longer compel terms. She reports his arrival, accepts a list of connections he requires protected, and later participates in the movement of Bright Cold into another Heavenly Domain. She weighs possible death soberly and continues serving. Her latest direct appearance still shows her as Sacred Master reporting disturbances, although accounts of other future histories say that White Cloud eventually disappears from the seat. Appearance and personality

Baek Woon’s Sacred Master manifestation is wrapped in brilliant white light. The exposed body resembles a sacred tree: skin has a bark-like quality, white branches sprout from her head, and a hand can appear withered and branch-shaped. Her light may expand into forests, stellar heat, or a halberd-bearing combat form, making the administrative guardian and the Tall Tree ancestry visible within the same figure. She is polite, technically truthful, cautious, authoritarian, and sincerely committed to a greater-good ideal. Measured speech lets her omit decisive information without speaking a direct falsehood. She can retreat when preservation outweighs pride and shows real fear around anomalies resembling Yang Su-jin. Accommodation therefore reflects calculation and responsibility, not meekness: Baek Woon remains capable of honoring an enemy while preserving the beliefs that made them enemies. Abilities and cultivation

Bright Cold Realm authority

The Sacred Master office lets Baek Woon draw on Bright Cold’s attraction force, observe disturbances across the realm, summon or project consciousness, and alter celestial, weather, and mountain flows. Her White Jade Pavilion functions as an authority-space through which administrative will becomes environmental power. Within or through the Middle Realm, her personal attacks can be amplified by a world-scale foundation. (Chapters 339, 417–436, 490–521)

That authority is strongest when connected to Bright Cold and is not free of cost. Heavy use injures her and can loosen protections that depend on the Sacred Master remaining stable. True Immortals and specialized curses can bypass ordinary comparisons of weight. Her latest use remains administrative and defensive; later reports of disappearance do not establish that the office itself made her immortal or independently active after leaving its seat. Naming, stars, and light

Baek Woon selects titles through celestial divination and attempts to make the resulting name carry binding force. The Within Heavens Star grants ground-shrinking travel while linking its recipient to her order. A compatible subordinate could gain recognition and movement, but a person who refuses the identity can resist or destroy the relationship. Seo’s rejection demonstrates that naming without consent can produce hostility rather than allegiance. (Chapters 431–435)

As Saint of Light, Baek Woon condenses white forests, stellar light, heat, nebular force, branches, and a Light Halberd into attacks capable of fighting interdimensional threats or scattering Entering Nirvana enemies. Higher divine authorities, Yang Su-jin-derived lightning, and soul-directed curses can penetrate or destabilize the manifestation. The power remains formidable during the End coalition without becoming an answer to every authority above Sacred Vessel. (Chapters 322, 434–435, 504)

Relationships

• Seo Eun-hyun: Intended subordinate, dangerous rival, protected coalition hero, and later adversarial acquaintance. Their conflict centers on whether public order authorizes imposed identity.
