Zong Gui

Zong Gui is the leader of the Huashan Sect and one of the established martial-arts authorities who oppose Feng Qi.

Biography

Investigating the Heavenly Demons and resisting Feng Qi

Zong Gui hears competing warnings about Heavenly Demons and Feng Qi but refuses to accept them at face value. He sends the messengers aside, orders an inquiry into their normal conduct, and consults his elders, demonstrating the caution expected of a sect leader facing claims designed to provoke the martial world. The investigation nevertheless leaves Huashan inside the coalition threatened by Feng Qi's expansion. (Chapters 57–58)

When the conflict becomes direct, Zong's extraordinary swordsmanship is no longer enough. Du Ge, empowered by accumulated attributes and the effect strengthening his mourning followers, overwhelms experts who once could have troubled him, including Zong. The defeat removes another independent sect obstacle and helps complete Feng Qi's consolidation of the martial world. (Chapters 70–74)

Appearance and personality

Zong is in his forties and carries himself as a deliberate sect master. He is impatient with unsupported claims but careful enough to investigate before committing his elders. (Chapters 57–58)

Martial abilities

Zong is famed for exceptional swordsmanship. His blade bears natural golden patterns and produces brilliant, dawn-like sword light in battle, the basis for his epithet. His skill is formidable by ordinary martial standards, but it cannot bridge the attribute gap created by Feng Qi's keyword growth. (Chapters 57 and 74)
