Zhang Ziqing

Zhang Ziqing is a young Celestial Master Sect cultivator who moves from coerced submission to earnest friendship and guides Du Ge through the Daoist world.

Biography

A captive becomes an advocate

Zhang initially submits after Du Ge overwhelms and humiliates his group, but the imposed relationship soon changes his priorities. He warns Du Ge to conceal his identity, argues that a friend should be taught the Celestial Master Sect's authentic thunder methods, and clashes with Qingsong over what knowledge may be shared. His concern becomes more than obedience: he actively tries to make Du Ge safer and stronger within a cultivation society that would otherwise reject him. (Chapters 279–284)

At the Demon Sealing Cave, Zhang accompanies Du Ge despite expecting that the mission may kill him. Du Ge's protection and display of an airborne talisman and the Upper Purity Seal overturn Zhang's understanding of their relative status, leading him and the other cultivators to bow to Du Ge as an Immortal Master. He understands orthodox thunder techniques and can prepare spiritual talismans, but no unique personal realm or advanced named skill is established.
