Biography
A private insult becomes a public reckoning
Xima is introduced as a sheltered noble prodigy and Prince Nelson's fiancée. After Holly insults her at a ball, her followers beat him brutally, an abuse of rank that later becomes a basis for his wider judgment of Lucerne's aristocracy. When Holly returns with a mass movement behind him, Xima fears both him and the crowd and admits her part in the attack, turning a youthful act of retaliation into a threat to her marriage and her father's political position. (Chapters 379–404)
Grand Duke Lynch responds by breaking Xima's ribs and then healing her, using controlled suffering as punishment and hardening training. The episode strips away some of the protection that let her confuse talent with consequence-free authority: she remains a gifted magician, but her development now comes under a father desperate to keep her scandal from destroying the family.
