Pope
The Pope is the mortal head of the Sun God Church and the bearer of the ten-star Twelve-Winged Angel martial soul.
Biography
Preserving church power under the Sun God's authority
The Pope's rise demonstrates both the promise and danger attached to the highest martial souls. He survives repeated assassination attempts while growing into the church's dominant mortal representative, establishing a precedent for treating another ten-star bearer as a world-shaping figure. His survival and office concentrate religious, political, and martial authority in the same person. (Chapters 387–393)
Du Ge later uses the Pope's conduct as evidence in his indictment of the Sun God, arguing that the deity's representatives oppress mortals while sheltering behind divine authority. Whatever institutional protection the Pope once enjoyed cannot survive the battlefield's termination: his soul is extracted along with those of nearly the entire population, ending his rule without a final personal contest. (Chapters 434–447)
Appearance and personality
The Pope is presented primarily through his office and reputation. He is politically ruthless enough to be condemned as a scoundrel by Du Ge, though the details of his private appearance and habits are not established. (Chapter 434)
Martial soul and authority
The Pope possesses the Twelve-Winged Angel, one of only two known ten-star martial souls before Holly's emergence. Reaching maturity requires surviving a vulnerable growth period marked by assassination attempts. The martial soul grants the standing of a top-tier human, but it is explicitly not a true deity and cannot protect its bearer from external soul extraction at the simulation's end. (Chapters 387–393 and 447)
