Infinite Life Buddha is the religious title Du Ge gives Emperor Changsheng after persuading him to establish Buddhism in the Southern Zen Continent.

Biography

Leaving an imperial order to found Buddhism

Emperor Changsheng accepts Du Ge's proposal that a new religious path can provide an independent route toward sainthood. Shaving his head and taking the name Infinite Life Buddha, he permits the Human Emperor's teaching to spread under Buddhist protection and joins Donghua and Du Ge as one of three complementary spiritual authorities. The decision turns a regional immortal ruler into the founder of a movement whose legitimacy competes directly with the celestial court. (Chapters 562–568)

The escalating war tests that new identity. Du Ge cites the Buddha's founding act as evidence of the mindset required to stand at the summit, yet later challenges his discouragement by arguing that catastrophe gives Buddhism beings to save and a purpose it could not fulfill in peaceful dependence on heaven. Infinite Life Buddha's importance therefore lies less in a demonstrated new combat technique than in creating an institutional and moral alternative during the three-realms crisis. Appearance and personality

After taking the title, Infinite Life Buddha is bald and shining. He is receptive to a new path but can become dispirited when its spread and political usefulness fall short of the promised route to sainthood. (Chapters 562 and 585)

Cultivation and authority

As Emperor Changsheng, he is an immortal emperor with high cultivation and authority across the Southern Zen Continent. Founding Buddhism supplies a new form of religious influence and possible merit, but sainthood remains an aspiration rather than a confirmed attainment.
