Biography

Choosing supervised service over elimination

Hong is exposed when Du Ge tests the Bureau's recruits and learns that his control ability can restrict other candidates. Knowing that such powers make their owner hard to trust, Hong promises not to target his own people and accepts monitoring rather than risk immediate elimination. Du Ge retains him because a broad restraining effect is useful against hostile teams. (Chapter 487)

Hong travels with Xu Wan and the main combatants to confront the Bell Star alliance. During negotiations he holds multiple opponents inside a barrier and releases them when Du Ge orders it, letting the coalition demonstrate control without turning the encounter into a massacre. His survival depends on disciplined use of a skill that allies would otherwise regard as a threat. (Chapters 488–497)

Appearance and personality

Hong is guarded and initially indifferent toward other control specialists, but becomes urgent and cooperative when his own survival is at stake. (Chapter 487)
