Turning gang methods toward charity

Gou Kun begins as one of Brother Hu’s street enforcers and quickly accepts Du Ge’s replacement of intimidation with highly coercive “good deeds.” He verifies Yao Tong’s miraculous recovery, protects the new organization, and follows Du Ge to seize communications and resources. When persuasion fails, Gou Kun falls back on familiar debt-collection tactics, displaying a pistol and threatening violence so that Du Ge can appear merciful while still forcing cooperation. Appearance and abilities

He has no keyword of his own; his practical value comes from street experience, loyalty, intimidation, firearms, and an instinctive understanding of Du Ge’s good-cop, bad-cop performances. (Chapters 111–112)

Relationships

• Key relationship: He accepts Du Ge as the continuing Brother Hu because the new leader still protects the group and provides power, status, and material benefits. (Chapters 91 and 108–112)
