Losing a fleet and adapting to Du Ge’s command

Ed Harold commands Mahamadu’s fifteen-warship force at Herd Island and expects conventional naval threats. Du Ge’s conspicuous approach and rule-based influence destroy that expectation, leaving Ed unable to prepare the orderly battle he prefers. After the fleet changes hands, he becomes part of Du Ge’s expanding coalition and continues as a practical naval officer, questioning sudden course changes but following the attack on Safra and witnessing the exposure of Marsha’s hidden identity. Appearance and abilities

He is an experienced fleet commander with roughly fifteen hundred sailors and cannon-armed ships, but conventional command discipline gives him no defense against keyword-driven shifts in loyalty and morale. (Chapters 155–156)
