Cao Lin
Cao Lin is a Chongming general who reaches the grandmaster level through military cultivation.
Biography
From field opponent to commander of the reunification army
Cao Lin marches on Linyang as an experienced general whose army and personal cultivation make him a credible answer to the Demon Star crisis. The imperial teacher goes to assist and observe him, but Du Ge overturns the campaign and ultimately incorporates Cao into Luo Shuang's new order. Cao's willingness to serve the restored court preserves his military usefulness after the political balance shifts. (Chapters 320–369)
At Dongling Pass, Cao fights beside the imperial teacher against Wei Jiuchou's faction. Compulsory movement and Ge Zong's indiscriminate absurdity repeatedly seize control of his body; the latter prevents his sword from killing the imperial teacher during the chaos. Cao then commands the captured Qingwu army's advance, relieved that humiliation has spared him an irreparable act against an ally. (Chapters 370–373)
Appearance and personality
Cao is a disciplined soldier who values duty and bears the moral consequences of his blade. His gratitude after the distorted duel shows that preserving an ally matters more to him than personal dignity. (Chapter 373)
Martial abilities
Cao forced his way into the grandmaster ranks through military cultivation, combining personal sword skill with command of large formations. He can threaten other grandmasters, but Alien Star control skills can seal his true energy or redirect his body, leaving conventional cultivation unable to guarantee autonomy. (Chapters 320 and 371–373)

- Du Ge: Cao changes from a general opposing Du Ge's expansion to a commander serving the regime Du Ge builds.
