Antonio

Antonio is a Royal Navy commander and an Alien Star candidate in the maritime simulation. His campaign against the pirates makes him a major obstacle to Paul's expansion before the ranking struggle draws both men into the same final confrontation.

Biography

Defending naval honor and contesting the final rankings

Antonio assembles more than a hundred warships to seal the Hede Island route and destroy the pirate gathering there. When Du Ge, acting as Paul, tries to impose his fish-naming convention, Antonio refuses to sacrifice the navy's honor and orders his deputy to fire if Paul attacks him. He nevertheless recognizes Paul's extraordinary value and offers him a rear-admiral's commission, showing that institutional loyalty, rather than simple hostility to Paul, governs his decisions. After his identity as a candidate is exposed, Antonio breaks off his struggle with Mahamadu and joins the pirate king's coalition. He approaches Erge Ale with a large fleet and attacks Paul's forces, hoping to preserve his high placement and answer the betrayal that revealed him. The fighting does not dislodge him from fourth place by the final ranking update. (Chapters 176–182)

Appearance and personality

Antonio is proud, disciplined, and unwilling to accept humiliation even under direct threat. He can still negotiate with an enemy when naval interests require it. (Chapter 161)

Abilities

Antonio commands fleet maneuvers, blockades, and massed naval cannon fire on a scale unavailable to individual pirates. His candidate status gives him competitive attributes, but his keyword and any personal named skills are not identified; the coalition's binding effects cannot therefore be attributed to him personally. (Chapters 155–165 and 180–182)
