Reverse Shadow Soul Silkgrass

Reverse Shadow Soul Silkgrass, initially called Reverse Shadow Spirit Silkgrass, is a rare mo-realm plant said to reconstruct a person's memories from surviving fragments. It becomes a storyline-level objective because recovering Zuo Mo's past may also reveal A Gui's identity and help her preserve herself through the Undying Shen Punishment. The plant is therefore important as a source of knowledge and emotional continuity, not as a combat treasure. (Chapters 223, 554, 681–687, 717, and 736–737)

History

A possible path back to the past

Pu Yao first proposes the silkgrass after explaining that memories are difficult to erase completely. If traces remain in Zuo Mo, the plant might locate and rebuild them. Much later, when A Gui's damaged soul and strange shen power resist every attempted treatment, Wei confirms the plant's function: even one surviving memory fragment can be reflected and traced backward into a wider memory. He identifies Nether Spring Jie in the Ming Realm as a reported source. The difficult route turns a speculative cure into a reason for Zuo Mo to strengthen himself, gather helpers, and travel deeper into mo territory. (Chapters 223 and 554–560)

The discovery of A Gui's Undying Shen Punishment changes what Zuo Mo expects from the plant without making it irrelevant. The silkgrass cannot itself remove the punishment, but Zuo Mo hopes restored memories will explain the power and reveal a way to help her. An unidentified old man later says it may benefit A Gui directly: memories could help her understand her own heart and avoid losing herself in the punishment's pain. This is advice, not a demonstrated cure, and the corpus does not show A Gui consuming a plant. (Chapters 681, 687, and 717)

Earth mo weapons for five plants

Instead of completing the dangerous journey to Nether Spring Jie, Zuo Mo uses his reputation as the forger Xiao Yun Hai. He publicly offers an earth mo weapon for each Reverse Shadow Soul Silkgrass and leaves the trade with Rare Artifacts Hall. Four newly forged weapons are displayed, but Blue Horsefly is allocated to the hall; the other three are offered for silkgrass. Cui An exchanges one plant for the Yin Clear Li Chakrams, and the two remaining trade weapons bring Yi An's total to three plants. Rare Artifacts Hall then adds two more as part of its request to enter Zuo Mo's protection. (Chapters 699–720, 729, and 736)

Zuo Mo receives five plants and immediately consumes one in the underground sacrificial altar. The surge of recovered sights and voices overwhelms even his strong consciousness, then resolves into childhood scenes involving his family, the destruction around them, and the girl who would become A Gui. The first dose restores important fragments rather than a complete autobiography: afterward, Zuo Mo judges that organizing what returned and recovering the missing portions will require more attempts, some of them tied to A Gui's memories. The text does not document another dose or the later custody of the remaining four plants. (Chapters 736–737)

Abilities and properties

• Memory reconstruction: The plant is described as tracing from surviving fragments toward a more complete memory. Zuo Mo's first dose produces a flood of sensory fragments and coherent childhood scenes, establishing that it works, but it does not restore every answer at once. (Chapters 223, 554, and 736–737)
• Dependence on surviving traces: Pu Yao and Wei frame the effect around fragments that still exist. The corpus does not show the plant creating lost information from nothing, and Zuo Mo concludes that some missing portions must be recovered through A Gui rather than from his own first treatment alone. • Mental burden: A single swallowed plant releases more information than Zuo Mo's powerful consciousness can initially tolerate. His mind blanks before the memories separate into recognizable scenes. No permanent injury is documented, but the response shows that use is not a gentle or instantly controllable review of the past. (Chapter 736)
• Possible benefit for A Gui: The unidentified old man says restored memories could help A Gui maintain her sense of self within the Undying Shen Punishment. This proposed benefit is never tested in the scoped corpus, so it should not be treated as a proven treatment for the punishment or her wounded soul. (Chapter 717)
• Rarity and origin: Reverse Shadow Soul Silkgrass grows in the mo realm and is associated with Nether Spring Jie. It is difficult to harvest and transport rather than naturally equal in value to an earth mo weapon; Zuo Mo's extraordinary offer is what drives its temporary market price and scarcity upward.
