Lao De Guang

Lao De Guang is a thief captured while carrying one of the tokens needed to enter an ancient ruin. Fear and self-preservation turn him into a source of intelligence for Zuo Mo's party.

Biography

Shen-Power Ruins and the Great-Sect War

Lao De Guang initially gives only his ordinary name, then admits that he is the famed Shadowless Ghost Hand after Zuo Mo refuses to believe such skill could be unknown. Under threat of being handed to Thunder Sound Temple, he explains the ruin's token system, the preserved shen device nucleus, and its location in Calm Brightness Jie. Restrained aboard Zuo Mo's fleet, Lao is terrified by the Black Sea Flight Route and studies his captors for a way to remain useful. He later identifies the four Lotus Sutra Temple reverends and supplies information through unorthodox channels while accompanying the fleet toward the ruins. (Chapters 768–783)

Appearance and personality

The corpus gives no stable physical description. Lao De Guang is proud of his reputation until capture, then fearful, pragmatic, talkative, and highly attentive to chances for survival. He can become tearful under extreme danger but continues observing people and gathering information. (Chapters 768–783)

Abilities and cultivation

Lao De Guang's title establishes unusual stealth and theft skill, and he possesses information channels that can outperform formal local authorities in some matters. He successfully obtains a ruin token that has already passed through multiple owners. (Chapters 768 and 783)
