Joshua

Joshua is a commoner student who becomes the first leader to swear himself to Daneel Anivron. His five-person academy team provides the seed of Daneel's faction, and Joshua later helps recruit, communicate with, and train the organization named the Domination Corps. (Chapters 52–295)

Biography

From oppressed student to Corps leader

Joshua leads a mixed team of mages and fighters who repeatedly challenge the noble Team Varanel despite losing and being injured. Daneel recognizes the discipline behind their refusal to give up and gives them the weakness in their opponents' barrier. After their first victory, Joshua and his teammates kneel, explain that Daneel let them feel above the nobles who treated them as insects, and swear everything they possess to him. Joshua then works with Faxul to identify hardworking, oppressed recruits, administer secret vows, and prepare the faction for the struggle against Lanthanor's old regime. (Chapters 52–73)

When the Domination Corps receives its name, Joshua helps distribute blood-bound contact parchments and later coordinates its movement during Daneel's seizure of the throne. The new king gives Joshua palace access equal to his closest officers and includes him in the royal retinue, but Joshua's lasting role is organizational rather than ceremonial. He helps screen Corps members and, under the Fists of Justice, takes part in building a disciplined fighting force whose loyalty rests on shared experience. By his latest appearance, he remains alive and active in the Corps' training structure. (Chapters 72–126 and 294–295)

Appearance and personality

Joshua first appears as a thin commoner boy with dark hair, a long nose, and the injuries of repeated academy fights. He is tenacious but not reckless: he hates surrender, yet recognizes when continued challenges without a new plan are pointless. Victory releases strong emotion, while leadership brings out discretion, loyalty, and a willingness to do the slow work of finding trustworthy recruits. (Chapters 52–53 and 66–73)

Abilities and power

Joshua is trained in the academy system and leads a coordinated team of mages and fighters, but the supplied evidence does not state his personal realm or whether his own path is magic or body refinement. His demonstrated strength is tactical coordination: he accepts outside analysis, turns a barrier weakness into a team victory, and later organizes recruitment and secure communications. Relationships
