Wu Arrows

The Wu Arrows are arrows formed from the leaves of the Wutong tree and paired with the Tong Bow, whose trunk forms the other half of the Wutong divine artifact. (Chapter 274)

History

The Wutong revealed

Xu Yourong reveals the Wu Arrows while fighting Nanke in the Garden of Zhou. The paired Wutong set lets her hold the Southern Cross Sword with the bow while a separate rain of arrows attacks Nanke, eventually piercing the demon princess when she abandons defense for a decisive strike. Xu continues carrying the arrows in a spatial artifact with the Tong Bow, but exhaustion later prevents her from trusting them to kill a peak Ethereal Opening opponent at long range. (Chapters 274–276, 284, and 305)

From duels to war

Years later, Xu uses the Wu Arrows to contain Bie Yanghong, surrounding the Divine Domain expert with enough threatened force that he must account for exposing his back. In the northern war, she empties a thirty-arrow quiver into wolf cavalry several li away; the arrows kill on the outward flight, return with trails of fire, and continue pursuing the scattered riders. She then recombines arrows and bow into the Wutong tree manifestation to help resist Mountain Man Yanzhi, though even that defense cannot hold indefinitely. (Chapters 901–909 and 1127)

Abilities and properties

• Each Wu Arrow is a transformed leaf of the Wutong tree. Together with the trunk-derived Tong Bow, the arrows constitute the two-part Wutong artifact, ranked across two adjacent positions on the Tier of Legendary Weapons. (Chapter 274)
• The arrows can hover after being fired, attack in a coordinated rain, return after striking, and pursue targets on a second pass. Thirty arrows can engage wolf cavalry several li away and continue hunting riders as they scatter. (Chapters 901–908 and 1127)
• The combined bow-and-arrow set can manifest a Wutong tree containing the Tong Palace array, providing defense against mountain-scale force. The manifestation is powerful but temporary under Mountain Man Yanzhi's sustained pressure. (Chapter 1127)
• Their effective killing range depends on Xu Yourong's available true essence. When exhausted, she cannot be certain of killing a peak Ethereal Opening expert from more than one hundred zhang away. (Chapter 284)
