Stainless Sword

The Stainless Sword is Chen Changsheng's extraordinarily sharp dragon-whisker blade and a ranked legendary weapon. Its durability repeatedly exceeds the limits of Chen's own body, but superior force, protective Qi, or an unyielding grip can still prevent its edge from reaching a target. History

A dragon-whisker sword enters renown

Shang Xingzhou has the Stainless Sword forged from a Golden Dragon's whisker and gives it to his disciple Chen Changsheng. Once Chen begins using it openly, its exceptional edge draws the Pavilion of Divination's attention and earns it a place on the Tier of Legendary Weapons. It becomes his principal close-combat sword, commonly paired with the Vault Sheath through his battles in the capital, the north, and White Emperor City. (Chapters 462–490, 553, 665–779, and 1101)

Reclamation and return

During the master-disciple confrontation, Shang removes both sword and sheath from Chen's possession, asserting control over artifacts he had originally given. Chen must fight without them and tries to recover the sheath from Shang's sleeve; after Shang's defeat, the weapons are again available to Chen. The Stainless Sword fuses its intent with Xu Yourong's temple sword in the northern war and remains Chen's weapon through its final appearance. (Chapters 1100–1114, 1126, and 1178)

Abilities and properties

• Its unequaled sharpness can pierce expert defenses and withstand repeated high-level clashes, and Chen can summon it into his hand through his will. (Chapters 462–495, 674, and 1028–1032)
• Dragon-whisker construction makes its surface extraordinarily durable: Demon Breath leaves no mark, and striking starstone does not damage the blade. (Chapters 779, 984, and 998)
• It can join the Vault Sheath to form a longer composite weapon and to work with Chen's larger sword system. (Chapters 896, 926–988, and 1025–1028)
• Sharpness does not guarantee penetration. Protective Qi can keep its edge from touching a target, starstone yields only a faint scratch, and an Angel can physically stop the blade; Chen's body may also fail before the sword does. (Chapters 491, 998, and 1028–1032)
