Mountain Sea Sword

The Mountain Sea Sword is a massive black sword whose weight is compared to a mountain and whose force is compared to the sea. Recovered from the Sword Pool by Chen Changsheng, it finds a compatible modern wielder in Xuanyuan Po. (Chapters 328–370, 454–620, and 940–1168)

History

From Xike to the Sword Pool

The sword's most famous earlier owner is Xike, a mighty cultivator associated with the White Emperor's bloodline who uses its enormous mass in battles against armies and dragons. After his defeat in the Garden of Zhou, the sword remains in the Sword Pool for almost a thousand years. Chen Changsheng's summons finally brings it flying to Zhou's mausoleum, where he uses it against Teng Xiaoming, Nanke, the Monster Bull, and the monster tide. Its arrival also helps lead and awaken the other buried swords. (Chapters 328–337 and 735)

A sword for Xuanyuan Po

After leaving the Garden, the Li Palace considers allocating the sword to Luoluo because Xike has no successor and may have carried her ancestral bloodline. Chen instead sees Xuanyuan Po draw the sword with delight and gives it to him. Xuanyuan keeps the legendary weapon casually in piles of firewood, first at the Orthodox Academy and later in White Emperor City's poor district, but it remains responsive enough to fly up and defend his head when he is surprised. He ultimately wields it at the academy against Prince Chen Liu's rebels, and its appearance helps convince Tianhai Chenwu to retreat. (Chapters 454–620, 774, 940–968, 1110, and 1168)

Abilities and properties

• The sword is forged almost entirely from meteorite metal and possesses extraordinary mass, momentum, and durability. Its weight makes full use difficult without exceptional physical strength. (Chapters 328–330)
• It can answer spiritual-sense commands, fly independently over short combat distances, and coordinate with other swords. In Xuanyuan Po's custody it also reacts autonomously to block a surprise strike. (Chapters 331–337, 366, and 940–941)
• Chen uses its mass with the Burning Heaven move to attack the Monster Bull, while Xuanyuan reports attracting thunder and lightning during practice. The source does not establish that lightning is an automatic property separate from his cultivation. (Chapters 335 and 530)
• A previous unknown blade cut away part of its original edge, yet the weapon remains one of the best-preserved and strongest swords recovered from the Sword Pool. (Chapters 328–337 and 454)
