White Crane

The White Crane is Xu Yourong's intelligent companion, long-distance messenger, and aerial mount. Its deliveries connect Chen Changsheng and Xu Yourong before they meet, while its unmatched speed later makes it essential to travel, rescue, and communication across the continent. Biography

South Stream Temple

During the South Stream Temple crisis, the White Crane repeatedly crosses mountains, clouds, and the Tong River to carry Chen, Xu Yourong, and urgent news. Its speed lets Chen move between the temple, villages, and White Emperor City faster than ordinary experts can respond, while its earlier service carrying childhood letters gives those journeys personal meaning. Xu Yourong eventually entrusts the Crane directly to Chen; it bears him and hundreds of accompanying swords toward Bie Yanghong's refuge, then continues delivering information as the wider conspiracy unfolds. Appearance and personality

It has entirely white feathers, a thin neck, and a cold, proud expression, often resembling a snowflake or a creature formed from clean paper. The Crane is observant and opinionated enough to greet hidden acquaintances, offer testimony, and occasionally appear to trick its riders. (Chapters 14, 67, 993, 1150, and 1162)

Abilities and cultivation

The White Crane flies so quickly that only Divine Domain experts can normally keep pace. As an immortal bird, it also possesses powerful spiritual sense, detects danger around arrays and courtyards, carries multiple riders, and maintains special long-distance communication associated with Xu Yourong. Speed does not make it a primary combatant. (Chapters 989, 1021, 1126, and 1136)

Relationships

• Xu Yourong: Xu Yourong is the Crane's principal companion and uses it for letters, travel, and urgent coordination. Their bond allows the bird to act with considerable independence. (Chapters 13–14, 67–87, and 915–999)
• Chen Changsheng: The Crane first connects Chen to Xu Yourong through messages, then repeatedly carries him during major crises. Their familiarity becomes strong enough for the bird to assist him without constant direction. (Chapters 13, 67–87, 138, and 987–999)
• Tang Thirty-Six: Tang can give the intelligent Crane directions and trust it to reach Holy Maiden Peak quickly, though its proud temperament remains its own. (Chapters 908–915)

Items

• Letters and dispatches: The Crane transports Xu Yourong's childhood letters, her declaration at the Ivy Festival, and later battlefield intelligence. These messages, rather than equipment, are its recurring cargo. (Chapters 13, 67–87, 998, and 1136)
