Eunuch Lin
Eunuch Lin is Emperor Xian's foster brother, a palace veteran renowned for loyalty and moral discipline. Recalled after the Divine Empress's fall, he first tries to eliminate threats to the young emperor, then becomes an inside agent for a rebellion that claims to restore imperial authority. (Chapters 668–715, 1048–1120, and 1168–1170)
Biography
Loyalty divided by succession
Eunuch Lin voluntarily entered palace service for Emperor Xian and retained enough prestige that the Tianhai Divine Empress could only send him into retirement. Shang Xingzhou recalls him as Eunuch of the Seal after the coup, and he brings a decree to the Orthodox Academy while secretly intending to kill Chen Changsheng, whom he regards as an obstacle to the young emperor's security. Chen defeats him with the black stone and thousands of swords, leaving him gravely wounded. Lin nevertheless becomes a leader of the emperor's old-minister faction. In the final succession struggle he helps Prince Xiang break the Imperial Design from within. When the rebellion fails, he tries to kill himself rather than beg, but Emperor Yuren stops him and orders him to leave the palace forever. (Chapters 668–715, 1048–1120, and 1168–1170)
Appearance and personality
Eunuch Lin is elderly and first appears reclining with his eyes closed in a cushioned carriage, treating a tense confrontation with legendary calm. He is principled, proud, and capable of deep loyalty, but his understanding of service permits lethal secrecy and finally rebellion. (Chapters 668–676 and 1168–1170)
Abilities and cultivation
He is a senior expert comparable to the strongest non-sacred cultivators and enters the academy resolved to kill. The supplied evidence establishes that Chen requires the black stone and thousands of swords to defeat him, but it does not give Lin's realm, technique names, or complete combat mechanics. His later ability to help break the Imperial Design also depends on palace access and preparation, not personal force alone. (Chapters 676, 698–715, and 1168)
