Chusu

Chusu is a monster cultivated by the Longevity Sect from a strand of its previous sect master's soul. Created as a weapon against Su Li and his successors, he combines poison, infiltration, extraordinary durability, and a Yellow Springs art designed for survival. Biography

Wenshui and the White Emperor City

Chen's side begins investigating Chusu after his strange method is linked to the poison used against the Tang First Master and to an ambush in Wenshui. Chusu survives being driven from the city, continues stalking Chen's allies, and later loses an arm to Xu Yourong beside the Red River without being captured. These failures reveal both the strength and the emptiness of his design: the Longevity Sect created him to kill for another person's vengeance, but after withdrawing to the grassland and tasting independent rule, he abandons revenge and admits that survival alone cannot give his manufactured existence meaning. Appearance and personality

Chusu is a short, hunchbacked figure in black whose wounded body leaks gray fluid rather than ordinary blood. He is vigilant, sinister, and difficult to read, with a raspy voice; later reflection exposes despair beneath his instinct to survive. (Chapters 830–848 and 1121–1124)

Abilities and cultivation

His Yellow Springs art makes his methods secretive, mutable, and exceptionally hard to kill. He can burrow or flee through terrain, endure wounds that would disable humans, use potent poison, and preserve his Dao heart with array support. Surprise and escape are central limits: stronger opponents wound or drive him off when forced into direct combat. (Chapters 537, 828–868, 990, and 1044)

Relationships

• Su Li: Chusu is created as a weapon against Su Li, and even his name signifies that purpose. He eventually abandons the inherited revenge. (Chapters 537, 830, and 1121–1124)
• Xu Yourong: Xu Yourong severs Chusu's arm at the Red River but cannot prevent his escape. She later understands the existential despair behind his final words. (Chapters 990 and 1121–1124)
• Chen Changsheng: Chen treats Chusu as a continuing hidden threat after Wenshui and warns allies against traveling alone while the monster remains free. (Chapters 828–868)
