Biography

Becoming an Orthodox Academy disciple

Chosen to represent the Orthodox Academy during a public challenge, Chu Wenbin recognizes that the opposing expert is beyond the assumptions behind Tang Thirty-Six's plan and warns his senior before retreating to the steps. Another fighter takes his place, but Chu's presence still marks a transformation that astonishes his former teachers: the student once known for sleeping every day now stands with classmates to defend his new academy. He later places seventeenth on the Grand Examination's second banner and matures into one of the academy experts deployed to the northern front, returning after the campaign. (Chapters 480–484, 553, 1139, 1167, and 1180)

Appearance and personality

The corpus supplies no distinctive physical description. Chu's earlier reputation is sleepy and disengaged, while his later conduct is observant and committed: he notices a dangerous mismatch, speaks up instead of blindly following the plan, and remains part of the academy community through war. (Chapters 480–484 and 1167)

Abilities and cultivation

Chu is capable enough to be selected for an academy challenge, finish seventeenth on the Grand Examination's second banner, and later be called an Orthodox Academy expert. His prudent retreat also establishes a limit at the earlier stage: Tang's tactics could only support him against the unexpected challenger, not make victory likely. No named technique or realm is given. (Chapters 480–481, 553, and 1167)
