Black Goat

The Black Goat is a proud, unusually intelligent animal raised in the palace by Mo Yu. Its immediate affection for Chen Changsheng develops into a quiet pattern of guidance through the palace and companionship extending beyond the Tianhai era. (Chapters 15–126, 428–656, and 1180–1182)

Biography

A guide through the palace

Although normally fastidious and indifferent even to royal offerings, the Black Goat accepts wild grass from Chen on their first meeting and permits him to touch it. It subsequently appears whenever he is lost near the palace, silently guiding him to Wei Yang Palace, the underground pool, and safe exits while remaining close to Mo Yu and the Tianhai Divine Empress. Chen recognizes this repeated care and formally thanks it before the coup. After the Empress's death, the goat remains an independent witness to the changing world, later watching Black Robe's end and the departure toward the Sacred Light Continent from afar. Appearance and personality

Its black coat is smooth as silk or glossy jade, and its innate elegance makes even a unicorn-blooded white horse seem childish. The goat is proud, clean, selective about food, and outwardly reluctant to display affection, yet repeatedly chooses to help Chen. (Chapters 15–16, 117–170, and 429)

Abilities and cultivation

The Black Goat shows humanlike understanding, excellent navigation, and an ability to move silently through guarded palace spaces. Other supernatural creatures react to it with unease, but the supplied corpus does not explain its species, cultivation realm, or any combat technique.
