Bai Cai

Bai Cai is an outspoken young Mount Li disciple whose nervous energy coexists with firm loyalty. Though sickened by blood, he stands armed beside the sect master during Mount Li's internal crisis and later follows his seniors onto the northern battlefield. The Orthodox Academy's Return

When Longevity Sect elders use Liang Xiaoxiao's death to demand Qi Jian's surrender and undermine Mount Li's leadership, Bai Cai supports the sect master with one hand and holds his sword in the other. Fear and revulsion do not silence him: he challenges the claim that suspicion is enough to punish a disciple, rebukes fellow students whose sword hearts waver, and refuses to treat the awakened Qiushan Jun as an enemy. Qiushan's intervention defeats the internal coup, validating Bai Cai's instinct that loyalty must be tested by actions rather than insinuation and establishing him as a candid voice among Mount Li's younger disciples. Appearance and personality

Bai Cai is young and intelligent, with a face that pales at blood and reddens when he anxiously holds his breath. He is stubborn, proud, talkative, and emotionally transparent, but his fear never becomes cowardice. (Chapters 405–414 and 554–588)

Abilities and cultivation

He practices Mount Li swordplay and joins senior disciples in formation and battlefield service. Zhexiu can defeat him within three moves by the later period, setting a clear limit on Bai Cai's individual strength; the evidence does not assign him a named realm or technique. Relationships

• Qiushan Jun: Bai Cai reveres Qiushan as his eldest brother, supports him while wounded, and trusts his judgment during the sect crisis. (Chapters 405–414)
• Gou Hanshi: Gou restrains Bai Cai's temper and leads him through later sect missions, providing the calm discipline the younger disciple lacks. (Chapters 554–588 and 884–929)
