Ring of Wizardry
The Ring of Wizardry is a near-legendary magic ring made for wizards in the World of Gods. It expands its wearer’s lower-rank spell capacity and carries an offensive spell, but Leylin’s rapid analysis of the Weave eventually makes its principal benefit irrelevant.
History
A concealed wizard’s asset
Leylin wears the ring while building his reputation as a wizard, but removes it whenever its recognisable magic could compromise a disguise. He later refines or activates its full functions in his laboratory, producing a darkened ring whose magical radiance is less conspicuous. (Chapters 868 and 879)
Use in the north
The ring is valuable enough that Leylin believes an auction would cause a major commotion. He keeps its extra spell capacity hidden and uses its Wailing Howl against pursuing monsters, preserving the appearance that his ordinary spell slots are nearly exhausted. (Chapters 887–898)
Superseded by Weave mastery
Once Leylin’s analysis removes his lower-rank spell-slot limitations, the ring no longer increases his effective reserves. He groups it among earlier items that provide very little benefit and begins forging stronger legendary equipment. The corpus does not establish that he transfers or destroys the ring. (Chapters 922 and 926)
