Manderhawke Plate

The Manderhawke Plate is a circular device able to weaken world boundaries and stabilise passages between worlds. Leylin first reconstructs expendable imitations from Beelzebub’s memories, then seizes the original and makes it central to the final cross-world war.

History

Imitations and soul-seed experiments

Beelzebub names the mysterious plate after acquiring it and uses it to reduce the suppression imposed by world boundaries. Leylin initially possesses only its remembered patterns, from which he constructs imitations. These false plates let him open narrow routes toward the World of Gods, but the strain destroys each one after use. (Chapters 777–778 and 785–788)

Recovery of the original

Within Baator, Leylin learns that Beelzebub stole the plate from Borke, who had found it during his travels. Leylin tracks the device through its boundary-hiding effects and finds its true circular form concealed within Beelzebub’s body. With the original plate, he opens stable connections and communicates across the barrier separating his bodies. (Chapters 1030–1046 and 1064)

Engine of the Final War

The plate later opens and stabilises wormholes for the Magi’s invasion of the World of Gods. After suffering damage, it is repaired through the combined work of multiple Magi. Peak Magi then pour law power into it, enlarging the breach in the World of Gods’ crystal sphere. (Chapters 1161, 1172, 1177, and 1192)

Abilities and properties

• Reduces the suppressive cost of crossing or projecting power through a world boundary. (Chapter 778)
• Opens black passages and stabilises communications or travel between the Magus World and the World of Gods. (Chapters 1040, 1046, and 1064)
• Imitations are consumable and collapse under the strain of piercing the World of Gods, while the original can support much larger crossings. (Chapters 778, 788, and 1192)
