Investment in Faulen Island

Xena comes to Faulen Island on behalf of Waukeen, Goddess of Wealth, and recognizes that Leylin Farlier's sugar refining, preserved food, and sealing techniques can reshape regional trade. She does not accept his terms on faith: both sides bargain over the value of knowledge, capital, and security until the church commits to protect Faulen House for three years. Xena then spends church wealth and renewable priestly magic to erect a Port Venus temple rapidly. Her consecrating prayer draws Waukeen's grace, granting the goddess's followers luck, eloquence, and faster calculation rather than giving those traits to Xena as permanent personal powers. Bishop of a growing port

As Port Venus develops, Xena retains a youthful appearance through divine grace while gaining the experience and authority of a regional bishop. She becomes an information broker between Faulen House and multiple churches, warns Leylin about legendary threats, and repeatedly offers Waukeen's protection as both sincere shelter and an investment in a future legendary. Her instinct favors open commerce, but she adapts when Leylin's force unifies the outer seas and creates markets no merchant church can ignore. (Chapters 923–960)

Magical commerce and church politics

Leylin offers detection spell models more accurate and broader than the church's existing Detect Evil methods. Xena personally tests the models, recognizes their value against demons and devils, and helps turn magical research into church policy and trade. Later Waukeen orders her to investigate the Giant Serpent Church on Debanks Island. Xena accepts the danger because advancement within her church depends on completing divine and commercial missions, but the final confrontation exceeds her rank: she freezes during battle, and Waukeen possesses her body to rescue Jeffries. The teleportation and divine lustre belong to the goddess acting through her, not to Xena's normal spellcasting. (Chapters 941 and 1012–1018)

Appearance and personality

Xena retains the appearance of a young woman through divine blessing, though her eyes grow more experienced over time. She is commercially astute, ambitious, dignified, and willing to spend heavily when investment promises influence and profit.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Priesthood and prayer

As a Gold Priest and bishop, Xena receives divine spells through Waukeen and renews them through prayer. She can consecrate a new temple and serve as the focal cleric through whom divine grace descends. The resulting port-wide blessings originate with Waukeen, however, and the corpus does not name a broad personal combat list for Xena. Her priest rank supports ritual, investigation, and religious authority more clearly than frontline legendary combat. (Chapter 843)

Magical evaluation and commerce

Xena can test unfamiliar spell models, compare their accuracy and scope with established divine detection, and assess how an invention will affect church campaigns and markets. She combines that literacy with negotiation, contract design, intelligence exchange, and capital allocation. These are learned professional capabilities: they explain why she converts Leylin's research into institutional advantage without implying that she invented or can freely cast every model he supplies. Church resources and divine possession

Gold ships, priests, paladins, church deposits, and protective promises are resources Xena mobilizes as Waukeen's representative. Her youthful preservation is divine favor, while Waukeen's possession in Chapter 1018 temporarily gives her body dignity, power, and teleportation far beyond Xena's own rank. The possession is an emergency use of Xena as a vessel, not a late personal advancement. (Chapters 923–960 and 1012–1018)
