Skrill

Biography

Pressure on Nature's Alliance

Skrill leads the Eight-Clawed Spider Guild while Nature's Alliance is in decline. Stronger than the newly advanced Celine, he uses that imbalance to demand benefits and pressure her to join him. His confidence collapses when Leylin Farlier approaches without being detected and releases the aura of a peak rank 1 Magus, forcing Skrill to retreat. (Chapters 321–322)

Rather than abandon the attempt, Skrill secures support from the medium-sized Dense Fog Forest. His influence spreads through several smaller guilds, and at the joint conference he formally challenges Nature's Alliance, intending to strip it of its position and resources. He puts forward Xerxes as his famed professor, expecting Dense Fog Forest's backing to remove Leylin and leave Celine under his control. Leylin defeats that arrangement first through accepted research and then survives the later ambush. (Chapters 332–338)

Captured witness

When the defeated attackers withdraw, Skrill tries to activate an escape scroll. Leylin freezes him in a block of ice, interrogates him, and keeps him alive because his testimony can implicate Dense Fog Forest. After several days Skrill gives in, becoming both a witness and a potentially useful semi-converted Magus rather than another casualty of the conflict. (Chapters 338–339)

Submission and service

Once Dense Fog Forest falls, Skrill makes the “sensible” choice Leylin expects. On command, he disbands Eight-Clawed Spider and transfers its Magi to Nature's Alliance. He then half-kneels, surrenders the black crystal wand containing Abyssal Breath, and leads one of the forces sent to subdue Dense Fog Forest's remaining subordinate guilds. At his last direct involvement he is alive, frightened of Leylin, and serving under coercive submission rather than reconciled friendship. (Chapter 342)

Appearance and personality

Skrill is a half-human, half-spider figure with eight spider legs and a repulsive odour. This form is the bodily result of imitating an abyssal creature through his meditation technique, not a fusion with a pet or a confirmed bloodline. He is possessive toward Celine, opportunistic in choosing stronger allies, and willing to exploit a weakened guild. He is also highly responsive to power: peak rank 1 pressure makes him retreat, capture makes him cooperate, and Leylin's victory turns his former guild into an obedient subordinate force. (Chapters 321–322, 332–342, 358)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Semi-converted rank 1 Magus

Skrill is a semi-converted elemental rank 1 Magus. That places him above Celine immediately after her advancement and makes a force led by him overwhelming against unrated guilds. It does not put him at the peak of rank 1, and he is unable to resist Leylin after Leylin recovers rank 2 power. No advancement beyond rank 1 is recorded. (Chapters 321–322, 332, 338–342)

Abyssal Breath

Abyssal Breath is a high-grade meditation technique that draws on the strength of the abyss to alter the practitioner's body toward a form suited to that realm. Skrill is stuck at its rank 1 stage and uses the model of a special abyssal being, producing his half-human, half-spider anatomy. The transformation is cultivation-driven; it is explicitly distinguished from the Underground Frost Spider matriarch's direct bodily and possible soul fusion with her pet. (Chapters 342, 358)

The surviving inheritance has only three levels, so its users can at most reach rank 3 through the recorded technique. Its introduction and Leylin's analysis suggest that sufficiently high development could restore a normal outward appearance after complete abyssal transformation, but Leylin estimates that such an “abyss spawn” state would require development beyond rank 5. Because that conclusion is an A.I. Chip deduction and the inheritance may not even possess those levels, Skrill is never shown approaching it. (Chapter 342)

Limits and external support

Skrill's eight legs and altered body identify the physical direction of Abyssal Breath, but the assigned chapters do not establish named attacks, quantified strength, or special web abilities for him. Much of his threat to Nature's Alliance instead comes from guild leadership, allied professors, and a network of subordinate organisations. Those are institutional advantages, and all disappear when his stronger patron is defeated. (Chapters 332–342)

Relationships

  • Celine: The Nature's Alliance leader whom Skrill pressures to join him. His guild challenge is tied to both control of her organisation and his possessive interest in her. (Chapters 321–322, 332–336)
  • Leylin Farlier: The stronger Magus who drives him away, captures and interrogates him, then absorbs his guild and orders him into service. (Chapters 322, 338–342)
  • Xerxes: Dense Fog Forest's famed professor and Skrill's principal champion in the challenge against Nature's Alliance. (Chapters 333–338)

Items

  • Black crystal wand: The carrier of Eight-Clawed Spider's three-level Abyssal Breath inheritance, surrendered to Leylin when the guild is dissolved. The wand stores the technique; it is not identified as Skrill's combat focus. (Chapter 342)
  • Escape scroll: A scroll Skrill attempts to activate after Xerxes's defeat. Leylin's icy ray strikes first and freezes him, so its destination and full effect are never demonstrated. (Chapter 338)
