Nonov

Biography

Failed confrontation

Nonov approaches Leylin Farlier with fellow Crystal Phase Magi Marjorie and Keefa after Alric's death. He first invokes Leylin's former identity as a light Magus and offers control of Four Seasons Garden if Leylin helps destroy Gargamel. When Leylin rejects the appeal, Nonov leads a coordinated attack: Keefa restrains, Marjorie amplifies, and Nonov charges with Heaven's Lance (Chapters 677–678).

Leylin catches and breaks the inherited lance, then escapes the four-pillar seal and Aquatic Devil Seaweed almost immediately. Keefa sacrifices his plant body to absorb the returning explosion. Afterward, Nonov discovers that Leylin has also shattered the hidden Blade of Avarice without harming its carriers. He correctly concludes that their opponent has reached Morning Star and warns the light Magi never to provoke the Farlier family (Chapters 678–679).

Subordinate guide

Nonov rapidly changes course, placing Ennea Ivory Ring Tower at Leylin's service and begging forgiveness. Alongside Anye, he guides Leylin through ruins inside the Eternal River pocket dimension. Their factions' centuries of exploitation have damaged a combined formation sealing the first subterranean layer, and the two rank 3 leaders ask Leylin to prevent an invasion they cannot survive. Leylin claims he can only delay the failure, leaving Nonov without another solution (Chapters 684–692).

When Leylin returns after breaking his bloodline shackles, Nonov and Anye stand behind far greater Warlock powers. They realise that Leylin deceived them to monopolise the new passage and can only exchange bitter looks when he ignores them, demonstrating how completely South Coast leadership has lost control of the discovery (Chapter 766).

Appearance and personality

Nonov is an old, white-browed Magus who carries the title of saint and speaks in righteous terms while he believes his alliance has leverage. He can coordinate experienced peers under pressure and identify an overwhelming rank difference from indirect evidence. Once that balance is clear, principle gives way to political survival and almost comic flattery.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Nonov is a Crystal Phase rank 3 light Magus. His golden sceptre enlarges into Heaven's Lance, covering him in golden armour and flames before he throws it hard enough to create fine spatial cracks. The weapon carries backlash: when Leylin breaks it, Nonov bleeds from his mouth and eyes. Marjorie's runes amplify him toward the peak of rank 3, so that increased output is collective rather than Nonov's unaided baseline (Chapters 677–678).

He commands activation of the four-pillar rock seal prepared for Gargamel, but the formation relies on installed pillars, allied operators, and a one-use supply of Aquatic Devil Seaweed. It can hold Gargamel for minutes yet barely delays Leylin. Nonov's later knowledge of the ancient subterranean seal comes from institutional records and joint exploration; he and Anye cannot repair it themselves (Chapters 678, 684–692).

Relationships

  • Leylin Farlier: The Morning Star he attacks, then serves and flatters.
  • Marjorie and Keefa: His rank 3 partners in the failed confrontation.
  • Anye: The dark-Magus leader who jointly manages the ancient seal.
  • Gargamel: The common threat Nonov first uses to justify recruiting Leylin.

Items

  • Golden sceptre / Heaven's Lance: An inherited academy weapon that enlarges into Nonov's holy lance and is destroyed by Leylin (Chapter 678).
  • Blade of Avarice: The light Magi's self-recharging high-grade artefact, capable of threatening peak rank 3 and previously used against Gargamel; Leylin secretly shatters it before Nonov can deploy it (Chapter 679).
  • Keefa's trueseed: The surviving core from which the plant Magus can eventually regrow; Nonov safeguards it after Keefa loses his body (Chapters 678–679).
