Biography

Surviving the ambush

Mies first appears during a disastrous Special Task Force operation in which two Sky-rank enemies overwhelm his unit. Rather than flee with the soldiers who are hunted down, he smears himself with blood, lies among the dead, and suppresses his aura through a secret technique. The deception leaves him one of the few survivors and physically almost unharmed, but it also brands him a coward in Schiker's eyes. Mies begs “big brother Ley”—Leylin Farlier's Lava World identity—for help, and Schiker ultimately treats the retreat as a single lapse in judgement instead of executing or expelling him. (Chapters 551–553)

Service under Ley

Afterward, Mies is assigned to Ley's new force as an attendant and messenger. He carries Schiker's orders, relays Ley's requests to regional officer Gilfah, and helps turn a local mission into an organised military encirclement. Ley's killing intent frightens him, yet he follows instructions promptly and understands that his captain's status gives the unit opportunities that an ordinary soldier would not possess. (Chapters 554–557)

Mies hesitates when the enemy proves to be a berserk legion of fellow Emberwings. Ley warns the soldiers not to touch the contagious blood, then destroys the infected troops in front of them. Mies is shaken by the slaughter and by the higher levels of power he witnesses afterward; even Star-rank energy lies near the edge of his knowledge. His last scenes show a surviving junior soldier learning how little he understands, not a confirmed transformation into a fearless veteran. (Chapters 558–562)

Appearance and personality

Mies is a young soldier whose fear is open and sometimes comic, but whose instinct for survival is effective. He is deferential toward stronger officers, quick to plead when threatened, and sensitive to the social cost of his decisions. His unwillingness to spend the nobility points needed for immediate advancement shows that he values a possible noble title as much as raw strength. Although he obeys Ley during brutal operations, the narrative continues to show his shock and hesitation rather than establishing him as naturally ruthless. (Chapters 552–558)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Fifth-level Fireplume

Mies has cultivated Fireplume to its fifth level. A gram of firasource stone could help him pass through the first six levels, and completing the sixth would qualify him as an Earth-rank elite, but the material costs nobility points. He refuses to exchange away his chance at a noble title, so the story does not show him reaching the sixth level. His progression is therefore a stated possibility, not an achieved rank. (Chapter 554)

Aura concealment

Mies knows an unnamed secret technique that hides his aura well enough for him to pass as one of the corpses after the ambush. He combines it with blood camouflage and remaining motionless. The scene establishes the result—detection is avoided and he survives—but gives no activation cost, duration, or evidence that the technique works during combat. (Chapter 552)

Soldiering and coordination

Mies can carry orders, contact regional command, and function within a Special Task Force deployment. These are practical military duties rather than magical powers. His knowledge of high ranks is limited: he can sense that an energy is extraordinary but requires others to explain what he is witnessing. (Chapters 555–557, 561–562)

Relationships

• Leylin Farlier: As “Ley,” he becomes Mies's captain and protector after the ambush. Mies fears his coldness, depends on his standing, and obeys him even when disturbed by his methods. (Chapters 553–558)
• Schiker: The officer who considers punishing Mies for retreating, grants him a final chance, and places him under Ley's command. (Chapters 553–554)
