Martin

Biography

A failing production quota

Martin leads Four Seasons Garden's third Potioneering team, which is struggling to meet a quota of three hundred Frost Potions. Leylin Farlier's arrival, together with three synthesis machines, gives Martin a route out of the crisis. He handles Leylin's registration, laboratory assignment, and contribution-point arrangements, and quickly comes to regard the unusually productive newcomer as the team's saviour (Chapter 159).

The resource secret plane

Martin later leads Leylin and other members on a maintenance mission into Four Seasons Garden's enormous secret plane. A gold-ribbon mission scroll authorises the trip, guards inspect the group, and the plane's guardian opens the gate before the scroll transports them. Martin explains its roughly one hundred thousand mu of farms, magical creatures, labourers, and resource production. His role is that of authorised guide and organisation veteran; he does not personally create or control the plane (Chapters 160–161).

Potioneering leader in wartime

As Leylin's immediate team leader, Martin relays missions from Decarte and explains that the coming Magus war is fundamentally driven by competition for scarce resources. He assigns the team to mass-produce Heart of Lava, a difficult collective potion that raises the surrounding temperature across a wide area. The workload reveals Martin's dependence on Leylin's output: the narrative states that he cannot handle the assignment without him (Chapters 189–194).

The Lava World “Uncle Martin” in Chapters 562–563 is a separate person.

Appearance and personality

Martin is a short, wrinkled old man who jokes when nervous. Administrative pressure makes him anxious and openly relieved when Leylin solves a production problem. He is talkative and experienced enough to explain how resources drive Magus warfare, while remaining troubled by the population-clearing logic of earlier conflicts.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Martin is an official Magus and experienced Potioneering team leader. He can organise laboratory work, allocate equipment, track contribution points, and supervise mass production, but the supplied chapters give neither his exact Magus rank nor any named personal combat spell. His knowledge of the secret plane is operational and institutional rather than evidence of space magic or control over its farms.

His Potioneering competence also has a visible limit. The Frost Potion quota is already failing when Leylin arrives, and the later Heart of Lava assignment would overwhelm Martin without Leylin's unusually high output. The potion's wide-area heating effect belongs to the finished product, not to Martin personally (Chapters 159, 191, 194).

Relationships

  • Leylin Farlier: Productive subordinate upon whom Martin increasingly relies.
  • Decarte: Potioneering head who assigns missions through Martin.

Items

  • Gold-ribbon mission scroll: Organisational authorisation that accompanies Martin's team into the secret plane; the guardian and gate system, not Martin alone, control entry (Chapter 160).
  • Potioneering equipment: Shared laboratories and three synthesis machines used by his team to meet production quotas (Chapter 159).
