Kaliweir

Biography

A fourth-grade leader on the journey

Kaliweir introduces himself as a fourth-grade acolyte from the Lance Empire and quickly assumes leadership among the youths traveling toward the Magus academies. Leylin Farlier joins his circle because Kaliweir has gathered several higher-aptitude recruits, although Kaliweir's disdain toward first- and second-grade companions reveals how early the Magus world's hierarchy shapes him. He is informed about the journey, proud of the dirigible that will carry them, and confident that his Knight training makes him one of the group's natural authorities. (Chapters 15–18)

That confidence is checked by Jayden, the fifth-grade genius favored by Dorotte. Kaliweir has already ignited his internal life energy and can raise his physical attributes with a secret technique, but Jayden's newly obtained green badge summons binding vines that a Knight cannot match. The confrontation ends without a formal conclusion when the dirigible is threatened, yet Kaliweir thereafter avoids Jayden and becomes less openly haughty. His humiliation gives Leylin an early demonstration that even an accomplished mortal Knight remains vulnerable to an acolyte equipped with a Magic Artifact. (Chapters 18–19)

Missions from Abyssal Bone Forest Academy

Kaliweir pays for a chosen mentor, reaches Level 1 acolyte with the stronger members of his circle, and begins recruiting companions for missions. His immediate motive is economic: instruction, information, spells, and experimentation all require Magic Crystals, and the resources brought from home are quickly exhausted. His first expedition suffers casualties, but he continues because field work is one of the few available paths to both income and practical combat experience. (Chapters 21, 26–30)

By the time Leylin joins him, Kaliweir is a Level 2 acolyte as well as a Knight. He gives the team a clear accounting of everyone's strength, assigns roles according to their training, and takes responsibility for casting while weaker members delay a Red-Eyed Raven. His Negative Energy Fireball destroys the creature after a noticeable preparation period. When a Violent Hilly Bear overwhelms the group's expectations, Kaliweir uses Nimble Grass to improve his speed and retreats with the survivors rather than pretend the party can win. (Chapters 29–34)

Kaliweir divides the mission reward and recovered creature materials evenly, but the expense of potions, spell components, and escape measures consumes the apparent profit. His leadership gives Leylin useful experience, yet it cannot make low-level work safe or reliably profitable. When war seals the academy, acolytes below Level 3 are not even meaningful combat assets; they become highly disposable bodies. Kaliweir dies during this period, and later recollection places him among the ordinary talented youths whose aptitude was insufficient to carry them through the Magus world's long hierarchy. (Chapters 36, 82, 670)

Appearance and personality

Kaliweir is proud, socially hierarchical, and comfortable taking command. He initially judges companions by aptitude and treats weaker recruits with visible disdain, but experience tempers his swagger. After losing to Jayden's artifact, he becomes more cautious; after a fatal first mission, he can discuss the cost of advancement without pretending bravery removes danger.

In the field he is more responsible than his early arrogance suggests. He discloses his own abilities before asking others to do the same, assigns tasks, prepares his spell while teammates protect him, divides rewards transparently, and leads from within the group. His limitations are those of a young leader learning inside an institution that makes even competent acolytes expendable.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Knight physique and secret technique

Before reaching the academy, Kaliweir has ignited his internal life energy and become a full Knight. The A.I. Chip records strength 2.5, agility 2.7, and vitality 3.0 while he is circulating a secret technique that temporarily raises strength and agility. His Knight constitution lets him handle heavy weapons, react to ambushes, and survive terrain and exertion that would endanger an ordinary acolyte. It does not provide magical resistance comparable to an artifact or spell, as Jayden's green badge demonstrates. (Chapters 18–19, 32)

Kaliweir's usual close-combat weapon is a black cleaver. He can knock aside a lunging magical snake without losing composure and combines weapon work with team positioning. Against stronger magical creatures, however, ordinary steel and physical technique cease to be decisive; his party survives by coordinating spells, nets, potions, and retreat rather than by relying on his Knight status alone. (Chapters 32–34)

Acolyte progression and Negative Energy Fireball

Kaliweir advances from Level 1 to Level 2 acolyte early in his academy career, reaching 4.1 spiritual force when Leylin scans him. His specifically demonstrated Rank 0 spell is Negative Energy Fireball. It creates a dark-red projectile with enough heat and explosive force to kill a Red-Eyed Raven, but its model requires time and concentration to cast. Kaliweir therefore needs Raynor and Lilisse to restrain the target while he completes the spell, making formation discipline essential to its battlefield use. (Chapters 26, 29, 32–33)

No official-Magus advancement or bloodline power is established for Kaliweir. His fourth-grade aptitude gives him better prospects than most recruits but is not itself a guarantee of survival or high rank. The last confirmed wartime assessment places him below Level 3, and the corpus attributes his death to the academy conflict rather than recording a later breakthrough. (Chapters 15, 82, 670)

Expedition command and field economy

Kaliweir's recurring competence is operational rather than a separate supernatural ability. He recruits a balanced party, compares members' spells and martial skills, apportions targets, knows the market value of creature parts, and divides mission proceeds. He also prepares consumables such as Nimble Grass for escape. The limitations are material: potions and single-use resources can cost as much as the entire reward, injuries reduce future capacity, and one misjudged creature can break the plan. (Chapters 26–36)

Relationships
