Biography

The hidden spirit

Jaye is the deceased daughter of an elderly Magus who has preserved her spirit for fifty-three years. She travels under a heavy black cloak and gloves so the expedition will mistake her for a living Magus. Tears of Mary and other spirit preparations have raised her unstable energy toward official-Magus strength, but her fluctuations and familiarity with the Ancient Spirit Slaying Sect laboratory hint that the journey is not an ordinary ruin expedition. Her mother is seeking a body, while Jaye's fear at the altar shows that she understands how little control they have over the promised resurrection. (Chapters 175–184)

Failed resurrection

At the spirit altar, Jaye casts a restraining net at Leylin Farlier and activates the Madori formation before he can disrupt the plan. She and her mother intend to offer him to the Gargamel in exchange for a body, accepting the earlier murder of Brass Ring as part of the preparation. Leylin escapes the restraint and substituted offering. The Gargamel then announces that it will use other available materials, turning the ritual's logic against its summoners. Jaye is last seen in despair as the ceremony moves beyond their control; the corpus never confirms survival or successful embodiment. (Chapters 184–186)

Appearance and personality

Jaye's true form is the translucent image of a very young, pretty woman who resembles her mother in youth. Quiet, wary, and antisocial, she condemns the ancient sect's atrocities despite helping murder Brass Ring and sacrifice Leylin. Her reactions to the ritual show fear and conflicted resignation rather than her mother's zeal. (Chapters 175–186)

Spirit body and energy

Jaye exists without a physical body as a translucent spirit. This makes ordinary disguise difficult and aligns her with black and negative-energy particles, which she can manipulate in direct magical exchanges. Her energy oscillates between newly advanced and peak rank 1 levels rather than remaining stable. The official-Magus comparison reflects potion-assisted spirit strength, not a conventional Magus body, sea of consciousness, or proven durability. (Chapters 182–185)

Restraint and prepared spell knowledge

She has memorized an unusual rank 1 spell and can cast a translucent green net that restrains and corrodes opposing magic. The attack is used to gain the initiative over Leylin, whom she knows is stronger. It does not secure him permanently: he shifts away and attacks the protected altar, forcing Jaye to rely on prepared defences rather than her personal spell alone. (Chapters 182 and 184)

Formation and potion support

Jaye activates the Madori Defensive Spell Formation around the altar and feeds it power from the laboratory's core, allowing the black dome to survive attacks that would break an ordinary innate defence. That durability belongs to the prepared site and core, not to her unaided spirit body. Tears of Mary and decades of her mother's spirit research similarly strengthen her from outside; the protective scroll that forms a fiery shield is consumable equipment. (Chapters 175–185)
