Biography

Leylin's flying mount

Hawke is a Venom Wyvern purchased and forcibly branded by Leylin for transport between Four Seasons Garden and Nightless City. Despite its fearsome nature, it behaves with almost puppy-like affection toward its master and carries Leylin and his followers across the south coast. Leylin also extracts its trace of Thousand Venom Dragon blood for research (Chapters 173–205).

Death at the secret plane

Hawke carries Leylin during attacks and retreats but is kept away from battles between stronger Magi. It is nevertheless caught at the edge of the Eternal River Plains secret plane when Leylin releases a vast, indiscriminate Toxic Bile attack. Leylin briefly mourns the loss of his convenient mount (Chapters 222–269).

Appearance and personality

Hawke is a huge wyvern with murky green scales, red eyes, sword-like fangs, a reverse-scaled crimson tongue, sharp claws, and broad green wings. It is temperamental around handlers and other mounts, but fawning and loyal toward Leylin under the effects of his spirit brand.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

• Flight: Hawke flies about twice as fast as a Dragon Crown Nighthawk, making it useful for transport and withdrawal. It can carry Leylin and at least two armoured followers, but Leylin considers it unsuited to battles between official Magi (Chapters 173, 189–222).
• Acidic breath: It spits corrosive poison over an area of roughly twenty metres. The A.I. Chip measures the attack at about sixteen degrees of power (Chapter 173).
• Toxic Rip: Poison on its claws and fangs has a strong numbing effect on spiritual force (Chapter 173).
• Thousand Venom Dragon trace: Its blood essence contains a faint ancient bloodline that Leylin extracts for research. The lineage does not let Hawke exceed the species' mature ceiling of roughly rank 1 (Chapters 173, 269).

• Leylin Farlier: Its owner, rider, and the Magus whose attack unintentionally kills it.
• Four Seasons Garden handlers: Acolytes who feed and house Hawke while fearing its temper.

Items

No personal item is identified. Leylin's spirit brand is an imposed control measure rather than Hawke's equipment, and the red bread pigs are food supplied by its handlers (Chapters 173, 189).

The Chapter 889 mention of “Hawke's Bazaar” is the name of an unrelated Silverymoon business, not an appearance by the wyvern.
