George
Biography
The count's son and Furze Alliance
George is a count's son educated at the Imperial Knight Institute and one of the noble youths traveling toward the South Coast academies. He befriends Leylin Farlier, spars with him using inherited sword techniques, and quietly helps him prepare revenge against Ourin without taking the victory away from him. George's social ease and access to information make him Leylin's first guide to the dangers and opportunities surrounding acolytes. (Chapters 1–8)
He creates the Furze Alliance to improve the travelers' survival chances across the Great Plains. The group is temporary, but not purely charitable: any acolyte who later becomes a Magus could remember George and his family favorably. When Direwolves attack, George fights two at once with elegant noble swordsmanship and lends Leylin a crossbow, demonstrating that his leadership is backed by Preparatory Knight strength rather than speech alone. (Chapters 8–14)
Separate academies and a light-Magus education
George chooses Ennea Ivory Ring Tower, where his family already has a connection to a senior Magus, while Leylin enters Abyssal Bone Forest Academy. The friends separate after crossing the Death Seas, their institutions placing them on opposite sides of the light- and dark-Magus divide. George has fourth-grade aptitude and reaches Level 3 acolyte after several years, a respectable pace that earns his mentor's praise without guaranteeing official-Magus advancement. (Chapters 14–18, 128, 196)
His education shifts from mortal swordplay toward transfiguration. George modifies his body with Green Metal Tree cells, gaining a giant combat form that greatly increases strength and durability. He travels with his girlfriend Sheira and remains part of the South Coast's mission system, where missing a reporting deadline can turn even an academy acolyte into a wanted criminal. (Chapters 196–199)
Reunion, transformation, and parting
George reunites with Leylin alongside Sheira and acolytes from Wetland Gardens. He welcomes his former companion despite learning that Abyssal Bone Forest is a forbidden dark academy, and vouches for Leylin when others object. Believing Leylin to be another Level 3 acolyte, George treats his presence as an increase in the party's collective security rather than suspecting that he has become an official Magus. (Chapters 196–198)
When bandits attack, George accepts a temporary alliance with people he distrusts and transforms into a three-meter green giant. He crushes ordinary acolytes but loses rational control and instinctively charges an official dark Magus. Leylin reveals his own rank to save him, restrains the transformed body, and treats the rejection caused by the Green Metal Tree cells. George awakens to discover that the old friend he regarded as a peer can overwhelm a semi-converted Magus. (Chapters 199–209)
The corpus does not establish George's later advancement. Centuries afterward Leylin finds no reliable trace of him and reflects that fourth-grade aptitude may still leave a Magus at low rank or erased by history. George's ending therefore remains uncertain: he survives the reunion, but no official-Magus breakthrough is confirmed. (Chapters 670–671)
Appearance and personality
George is handsome, confident, and elegant in conversation and swordplay. He is theatrical, sociable, and openly interested in women, but his frivolity coexists with careful social calculation and genuine courage.
He values friendship enough to respect Leylin's pride, defend him across factional lines, and meet actual danger rather than merely boasting. His transformed state removes that judgment, replacing it with aggression and instinct until the cellular rejection is treated.
Magic, bloodline, and abilities
Noble swordsmanship and Preparatory Knight training
George studies at the Imperial Knight Institute and reaches Preparatory Knight strength before the academy journey. His family sword techniques combine speed, control, and enough force to contend with multiple Direwolves. Armor, a longsword, and a crossbow support this training, but George regards swordplay as a hobby and magic as his intended life's path. (Chapters 5–14)
Fourth-grade aptitude and Level 3 acolyte rank
George has fourth-grade aptitude and advances to Level 3 acolyte at Ennea Ivory Ring Tower. The rank lets him undertake academy missions and contribute meaningfully against other acolytes, but leaves a wide gulf between him and an official Magus. No specific conventional spell model or official-Magus advancement is demonstrated for him. (Chapters 14, 128, 196–209)
Green Metal Tree transfiguration
George majors in transfiguration and incorporates Green Metal Tree cells. Activating the modification enlarges him beyond three meters, turns his skin green, and massively raises strength and durability; he can throw fighters, use a body as an improvised weapon, and dominate ordinary acolytes in close combat. Green Metal Tree is popular because it is comparatively easy to modify, has useful offense and defense, and offers multiple future development paths. (Chapters 199–200)
The transformation has severe limits. George becomes slower, can lose rationality for an unpredictable period, and suffers biological rejection from the foreign cells. The loss of control worsens while transformed, causing him to attack the greatest nearby pressure even when that opponent is an official Magus. Leylin must restrain him and use treatment to remove the lingering green patches and stabilize the rejection. (Chapters 199–200)
