Geiger Dole — Warlock of the Magus World

Geiger Dole is an adult Beholder, fleet commander, and secret rank 3 Sacrificer of the Trial's Eye. He gives the disguised Leylin Farlier passage through Purgatory World, then reports the suspicious traveler and dies when Leylin exposes his faction's smuggling operation.

Biography

A cautious host at sea

Geiger Dole introduces himself as Geiger's father and welcomes “Ley” aboard the Eden Trading Company's fleet. He exchanges information about geography and local powers while quietly testing whether the stranger's story is credible. His courtesy reflects both commercial judgment and caution around an unknown being strong enough to appear alone in dangerous waters. When a Thornback Ironwhale threatens the ships, Geiger Dole fights with the fleet and accepts Leylin's decisive aid rather than turning hospitality into reckless suspicion. (Chapters 700–703)

Farewell and covert report

At Port Elias, Geiger Dole gives Leylin a detailed skin map and offers practical advice while cautioning his son against greed. The gift does not end his investigation. As a hidden Sacrificer involved in covert trade, he reports Leylin to a superior associated with the Trial's Eye and prepares to help determine the traveler's identity and value. That choice converts a temporary guest into an enemy who understands far more about the Beholders than they realize. (Chapters 703–707)

Exposure of the warehouse

Leylin retaliates indirectly by sending Port Elias's governor information about the Beholders' smuggling warehouse. When guards strike, Geiger Dole abandons the role of ordinary merchant and reveals both his Elder Eye abilities and a sacrificial formation linked to the Trial's Eye. He fights to preserve the operation and his people, drawing borrowed power through offerings to suppress injuries and continue after the governor's Berserk Boltbear wounds him. (Chapters 707–709)

Broken connection and death

The governor summons the higher-ranked Nighthawk beast spirit, whose attack destroys Geiger Dole's sacrificial formation and cuts communication with his dignitary. Once that borrowed support disappears, accumulated burns, wounds, and age return at once. The Nighthawk tears him apart, and Leylin watches until both body and soul undulations are extinguished. Geiger Dole's death demonstrates the risk in the path he serves: offerings can restore and amplify him, but an enemy who breaks the link removes that temporary strength at the worst possible moment. Appearance and personality

Geiger Dole is a large, aging Beholder with a huge central eye and numerous tendrils, some whitening with age. His size and mature racial development distinguish him from his son and support strength roughly comparable to a rank 3 Magus.

He is cordial toward valuable guests, experienced in long-distance commerce, and capable of warning Geiger against immediate greed. That practical warmth coexists with espionage, smuggling, and intense religious loyalty. He can cooperate with Leylin against a shared marine threat and still report him once organizational duty makes the stranger a target. (Chapters 700–709)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Adult Beholder body and rays

As an adult Beholder, Geiger Dole has innate power around rank 3. His central eye and tendrils support multiple ranged effects, including stunning rays and destructive death rays, while his body can operate in the marine environment. These are racial abilities rather than gifts created by the Trial's Eye. Their effectiveness has a ceiling: the governor's rank 3 and rank 4 beast spirits can injure and overpower him despite his attempts to fight at range. (Chapters 700–709)

Spiritual-force and water control

Geiger Dole can project spiritual force as whips or sweeping pressure, striking multiple guards and inflicting lethal internal damage. He also manipulates water during the fleet's defense, combining his Beholder traits with experience at sea. The corpus demonstrates force, control, and battlefield use without providing a canonical spell list or exact range. These powers remain his own even when his sacrificial link is absent. (Chapters 702–709)

Rank 3 sacrifice and borrowed empowerment

Geiger Dole offers eyes and other prepared sacrifices to the Trial's Eye through a formation. The communication lets him suppress lightning burns, replenish energy, and temporarily raise his combat state by drawing on the dignitary's power. This strength is borrowed and conditional. Destroying the formation or severing communication makes the supporting eye disappear and causes postponed injuries to return. Permanent racial improvements are possible in the wider sacrifice system only through exceptional offerings and missions; the corpus does not show Geiger Dole earning one. (Chapters 708–709)

Trade and fleet command

Geiger Dole commands ships, sailors, cargo operations, and long-distance routes. He knows Purgatory World's geography well enough to test a traveler's claims and provide a useful Port Elias map. The Eden fleet, smuggling warehouse, Godric, sailors, and his superior Sacrificer are organizational resources rather than personal summons or innate powers. (Chapters 700–708)

Geiger: Son whom Geiger Dole instructs, protects, and warns against greed. Both die in the Port Elias purge.
Leylin Farlier: Guest and temporary ally whom Geiger Dole reports, prompting Leylin's indirect retaliation.
