Dorotte
Dorotte, known as White Bone Dorotte, is the skeletal Abyssal Bone Forest professor who recruits Leylin Farlier's group at Death Beach and escorts them to the academy. His interest centers on high-potential acolytes, especially Jayden, whom he accepts as an apprentice.
Biography
Recruitment at Death Beach
Dorotte represents Abyssal Bone Forest Academy during the division of southern recruits. He explains the academy's terms, tuition, and dangerous contract without disguising its identity as a dark Magus institution. Leylin's Shadow and Dark elemental affinities make the academy a compatible destination, and Dorotte accepts his ring as security when the new acolyte cannot immediately pay the full cost. The transaction formally binds Leylin to the academy but does not make him Dorotte's personal apprentice. (Chapter 15)
Escort through the Chernobyl Islands
Dorotte shepherds the recruits across the islands and onto the dirigible, where official Magi provide protection that the acolytes cannot supply themselves. He leads them through the graveyard route concealing Abyssal Bone Forest's entrance and handles documents, warnings, and movement between dangerous checkpoints. His skeletal appearance and theatrical manner intimidate the newcomers, but he remains attentive to procedure because the academy values recruits as future members and resources. (Chapters 16–20)
Choosing Jayden
Jayden's grade 5 aptitude draws Dorotte's focused interest. He accepts the exceptional acolyte as his apprentice and supplies him with a Magic Artifact, giving Jayden an advantage and patronage beyond what Leylin receives. Dorotte's choice reflects the academy's competitive structure: scarce teaching and equipment flow toward the student judged most likely to advance. Leylin enters the same institution but follows a separate route, receiving only Dorotte's initial recruitment and escort. (Chapters 19–21)
Ruins and a dissipated imprint
Dorotte later disappears during an expedition into ruins. When Leylin returns to the South Coast much later, Nyssa reports that White Bone Dorotte's life imprint dissipated, making survival highly unlikely. No body or dramatized death is supplied, so “presumed deceased” remains more accurate than assigning a specific killer or final spell. His disappearance forms part of the erosion of the academy generation Leylin knew as an acolyte. (Chapters 679–680)
Appearance and personality
Dorotte appears as a white skeleton with green flames burning in his eye sockets. A black robe covers most of his bones, which creak when he moves, and he carries a black staff set with a large green jewel.
He is sardonic, theatrical, and willing to exploit the unease his appearance causes. At the same time, he is procedural in contracts and travel and keenly observant of aptitude. His preference for Jayden shows an investment strategy common to the academy rather than equal concern for every recruit. (Chapters 15–20)
Magic, bloodline, and abilities
Official Magus force field and radiation
Dorotte is an official Magus whose passive radiation and defensive force field are beyond what the acolyte Leylin can initially scan. This qualitative gap makes him the recruits' main protection during travel and means ordinary acolyte techniques cannot be used to measure his full strength. The corpus does not provide his exact rank beyond official Magus or a numerical elemental conversion, so it would be unsafe to promote him to a higher stage by inference. (Chapters 15–20)
Shadow and Dark elemental specialization
As an academy professor, Dorotte specializes in Shadow and Dark Elements, the same affinities that help make Abyssal Bone Forest appropriate for Leylin. His skeletal body, green eye flames, and reputation support death-aligned presentation, but the corpus does not enumerate a complete necromancy system or show him casting every technique taught by the academy. His article therefore limits itself to the elemental specialization and effects he directly performs. (Chapters 15–20)
Conjuration and expedition utility
Dorotte can conjure practical objects such as clothing or documents and uses his staff as a magical focus while directing the recruits. He also understands the concealed route, contracts, and protections needed to cross the Chernobyl Islands and graveyard entrance. The dirigible, academy seals, and route defenses are institutional resources. Jayden's granted Magic Artifact belongs to the apprentice after transfer and should not be treated as Dorotte's continuing combat equipment. (Chapters 15–20)
Relationships
- Jayden: Favored apprentice chosen for grade 5 aptitude and supported with a Magic Artifact.
- Leylin Farlier: A recruit Dorotte contracts and escorts, but does not personally adopt as an apprentice.
- Nyssa: Member of the same southern group who later tells Leylin that Dorotte's life imprint has dissipated.
- Abyssal Bone Forest Academy: Dorotte's institution, employer, and source of authority during recruitment.
Items
- Black staff: Staff set with a large green jewel and carried as Dorotte's magical focus. The supplied scenes do not name a separate property. (Chapter 19)
- Academy contract and metal card: Enrollment documents used to bind Leylin to Abyssal Bone Forest and record the tuition arrangement. (Chapter 15)
- Jayden's Magic Artifact: Equipment Dorotte grants to his apprentice; after transfer it is Jayden's resource rather than Dorotte's personal weapon. (Chapters 19–21)
